Elhi Hill High School Program sees record number of graduates; holds celebration
This year, 65 students will graduate through the Elhi Hill High School Program, the most graduates the program has seen to-date.
Elhi Hill staff and families celebrated these seniors in an outdoor ceremony on Monday, where they rang the ceremonial bell to signal their success.
The Elhi Hill High School Program provides a caring environment for students who need services beyond the traditional school day to meet state and district standards. Students who graduate from Elhi Hill receive a diploma from Bonney Lake or Sumner High School.
Sumner Rotary honors seniors for academic excellence
For the past 25 years, the Rotary Club of Sumner has honored SBLSD seniors with the highest GPAs at Rotary Honors Night. After a two-year pandemic hiatus, the event returned this year hosting 20 seniors and their families on June 6 at the Hansen Place in Sumner.
While the honor is for academic excellence, it was noted that each senior was very active in, and greatly excelled at, extracurricular sports and activities in addition to their impressive grade point average ranging from 3.9 to 4.0. Congratulations for these 10 students from each high school with the highest GPA:

Prepare now for next year’s student immunizations, medications
Summer is on the horizon, but it's already time to prepare for the fall. We encourage you to make appointments for immunizations now so your child will be prepared to attend school in September.
FAQs
What immunization records will the district accept?
The Washington State Department of Health determines what immunization records are acceptable. Find more information at SBLSD’s Health Services website or the state Department of Health.
What if my student is behind on their vaccine schedule?
We encourage you to make an appointment with your healthcare provider now, or visit the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department site for information on where to obtain free, or low-cost immunizations. Students who are on a documented catch-up schedule may be eligible for conditional immunization status. You can read more about conditional immunization status here. In order for your student to start school on time, Washington state law requires that your student be in compliance with RCW 28A.210.080 by the first day of school. Compliance means either: fully immunized, conditionally immunized, or with a Certificate of Exemption.
My student needs to take medication at school. Can I just drop off the medications?
No. By law, no medication (even over-the-counter meds) can be administered without medication at school orders. Please see SBLSD’s Health Services website for a list of forms you will need.
You can find more answers to most of your questions on the Health Services Website, www.sumnersd.org/healthservices. For any other questions, contact your health room.
Family Communication Protocol during emergency situations
During an emergency, the District’s first priority is to protect our students and staff. When we share information, our goal is to ensure that it’s timely and accurate. At times, we’re not at liberty to share information from law enforcement. We communicate what we can, when we can. Emergency situations, and the time and method of communication, vary widely. This Family Communication Protocol is used only as a guide as situations may merit alternative communication actions. Read an overview of our safety and security measures and outline of our safety procedures.
