A Note from Your Principals
Next Month's "Thankful Thursdays"
Based on the success of our “Thankful Thursdays” over the past two years, and thanks to a continued partnership between the PTO and our Sunshine Committee, “Thankful Thursdays” are returning for our staff and they’re happening in the month of February!
Our goal is to connect these days with our efforts to bring our RULER Charter to life, as well with our gratitude campaign. We hope these days help ALL our staff feel supported, valued, connected, and respected!
Please see below for the theme of each week. A big thank you to Amanda Beaudreau and Heather Kittle for volunteering to help bring some of these days to life.
Families...please be on the lookout for a "top secret" email later this weekend. We need ALL your help to ensure our final "Thankful Thursday" is a success!
Family Event - Mother Language Day
We are pleased to invite you to join the international community in celebration of Mother Language Day here at ET on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Mother Language Day was created by the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity and to inspire understanding, solidarity and dialogue.
Kindly complete the Google Form below indicating whether you would like to attend, volunteer or both for this exciting event!
Shout outs are a great way to express gratitude towards those who have made a positive impact in our lives. Whether it's a staff member, friend, student, or colleague, taking a moment to acknowledge and appreciate their contributions can strengthen relationships and bring our ET community closer together.
So, if you're feeling thankful for someone in your or your child's life, don't hesitate to give them a shout out! Go ahead, spread some love and appreciation to those who matter most to you.
**NEW** After School Program Opportunity
Sign Ups are Open NOW
Girls on the Run and Eli Terry are teaming up for a season of life-changing fun!
This spring, we are delighted to offer this one-of-a-kind program on Tuesday and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00pm.
Girls on the Run is an after-school program that isn't just about running, stretching, or lap goals. Unlike other extracurricular activities and organized sports, it empowers a girl’s whole self now AND in the future. The program follows an evidence-based curriculum that builds confidence, teaches life skills and healthy habits, and inspires joy through movement.
At Girls on the Run, you’ll find:
- Honest group discussions led by trained coaches
- Fun movement-based games that teach teamwork
- Thought-provoking activities that enhance creativity and critical thinking
Click on this Flyer to learn more about what Girls on the Run is all about or visit https://www.girlsontherun.org/. The program has positively impacted over 2.25 million lives across the United States.
Will your girl join us? Register at www.gotrgreaterhartford.org.
The program is open to girls in Grades 3-5 grade and will take place February 27-May 9th right here at Eli Terry. The program fee is $175 and there is financial assistance available if requested.
Please reach out to Kathryn @ Kathryn.Army@gmail.com, Mrs. Hammer or Coach Elaine Sullivan with any questions or to see a sample of the curriculum.
A Peek Inside Our Week
5th graders, Amelia Ottey and Ashlyn Manser, researched and presented to their class their new learning about the First Continental Congress. Ms. Swahn shared they, "had the class super engaged and excited to learn about this topic! They did a great job explaining it in a very clear and detailed way."
Mr. Luis and 3rd grader Maeve Marone got ready for the NFL divisional playoffs after Maeve lost a friendly bet!
Tessa Ludlow, Grade 5 Student Ambassador, reviews bus expectations with a very attentive first grade audience!
5th graders get to know some of the perspectives of people living during the American Revolution! They'll take this background knowledge and create a character and do some journaling from one of the perspectives that peaks their interest!

2023-24 Family Directory
We recognize that we have some new families who have joined our ET community, as well as some parents who may have missed the fall deadline for the PTO Family Directory!
As a result, the PTO is holding another "open enrollment" period, allowing new families to submit their information for inclusion in the directory.
Remember...this directory allows families to have access to the contact information for other families, helping to plan playdates, birthday parties, etc. The school cannot provide that information, so this is the way to get it!
If you'd like to be included in this year's directory, please fill out the Google Form below. The completed family directory is always linked at the bottom of each week's newsletter for quick access!
