This week, on Wednesday, we have our a Principal's Coffee and PTSA meeting immediately following our all school flag assembly.
Please see the newsletter for more information on upcoming Leadership and PTSA events. Leadership is selling their popular Earth Day shirts again this year. Earth Day shirts can be worn on Fridays and on Earth Day in April.

Message from Assistant Principal, Ms. Manion
Meteors ROCK!
Our students continue to earn ROCK tickets for positive behavior. This PBIS system (Positive Behaviors Interventions and Support) was designed to allow students to be acknowledged for being Respectful, Organized, Caring, and Keeping Everyone Safe. Our PBIS Matrix is posted in every classroom to help students identify how to behave in every situation while at school.
For example, if a student wants to be caring on the playground, they can go around another game without disrupting the game's play.
Each month students have the opportunity to “cash” their tickets in for prizes. Here is our generic list of REWARDS for students. We just had a store last week and the next store will be on February 23. Please take a few minutes to ask your student about their tickets and perhaps suggest prizes for them to work towards. We also want to acknowledge the PTSA for helping to fund this program. The PBIS Team will gladly accept any donations for our ROCK store.

Valentine Grams -1/31 thru 2/9
Cupid’s just around the corner and so is our McPherson Valentine Grams Sales. Show your heart by sending one! You can send one to siblings, friends, and even to your teachers! The cost of grams is $0.25 - $0.75 and they are sold outside the office each morning and after school and also during lunch. Give someone the spirit of Valentine’s Day this year with a gram!
Grams will be sold Wednesday, 1/31 thru Friday, 2/9. Grams will be handed out on Wednesday, 2/14 to all classes. Enjoy this Valentine’s Day By Giving A Heart!
Jammin' Jersey Spirit Day - Friday, 2/9
Show your school spirit and wear sports jerseys on Friday, February 9th. Students are allowed to wear jeans with sports attire. All spirit day attire must be school-appropriate.
Valentine Spirit Day - Wednesday, 2/14
Show your school spirit and wear red, pink, or white on Wednesday, February 14th. Students are allowed to wear jeans with Valentine’s Day attire. All spirit day attire must be school-appropriate.
Earth Day Shirts on Sale - Orders Due 2/9
Leadership is selling Earth Day shirts. Order forms went home on Friday, January 26th and orders and payment are due Friday, February 9th. Shirts come in 3 different designs. Shirts come in youth sizes (small, medium, and large) and adult sizes (small, medium, large, and extra large).
Please be sure all order forms include the student's First and Last name, grade level, first-period or classroom teacher, size, and design. Shirts are $15 and checks should be made out to McPherson. You can also send $15 cash (no change will be made). Shirts can be worn on Fridays and on Monday, April 22nd (Earth Day)!!!
8th Grade Generation Picture
ATTENTION ALL 8TH GRADE STUDENTS - The 8th Grade Generation Picture that is taken yearly for the yearbook, will be on January 30th. ONLY 8th Grade Students will wear the following colors based on how long they have attended McPherson.

Since 2nd grade - Wear Orange
Since 3rd grade - Wear Yellow

College Shirt Day on February 7th (College Shirt Only/Not a Free Dress Day)
College Shirt Day on Wednesday, February 7. (College shirts may be worn the first Wed. of each month). We are promoting a strong college-going culture at McPherson because it encourages students to think about their college and career plans. Students can wear a college shirt the first Wednesday of each month. Shirts MUST BE A COLLEGE SHIRT. T-shirts are allowed. NOT A FREE DRESS DAY. Uniform bottoms to be worn with College Shirt.
Chipotle Mexican Grill Fundraiser - February 7
Family Dinner Night - Chipotle Mexican Grill on February 7 - 4:00pm to 8:00pm
Come into the Chipotle at 3440 E Chapman Ave in Orange on Wednesday, March 15 between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Bring the attached flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re
supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to McPherson Magnet School.
PTSA Mother Daughter Event - 2/9/24
Who needs a Valentine when you have a Galentine! Grab your Mom or another adult Bestie and join us for a night of hearts and crafts! Come craft your heart out and enjoy dinner with your daughter!

Purchase a Tile for the Tile Wall
Be part of the lasting legacy of McPherson by decorating a tile for the newest tile wall at McPherson. These tiles will be placed on the western exterior wall to the library building. We only have a limited number available so buy one today to secure your tile for decoration.

Attention McPherson Parents. We will be having a College and Career Fair on Monday, March 4 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. If you would like to be a presenter or a volunteer at the College and Career Fair, please complete the linked survey below at your earliest convenience. OUSD is eligible to receive approximately $4.11M for the 24-25 school year. In order to receive grant funding, we are required to update our Transportation Plan and obtain feedback from the community partners regarding transportation for our students. We are asking students to complete the following survey to help determine where additional funds would be best allocated and prioritized for OUSD. Please click to the link for the survey.
