Carver's Weekly Update
Week of Monday, April 17, 2023
April is Autism Acceptance Month! See beyond the spectrum!
Let's remember to embrace neurodiversity in our school and in our community!
Carver Parents/Guardians,
Students and staff will return to school on Monday, April 17.
I want to remind parents about our dress code relating to shorts, shirts, and tank tops. These guidelines were copied from our district's Code of Conduct booklet.
- Tank tops are not allowed. All shirt straps must be at least the width of two fingers.
- Shirts, tops, blouses, etc. must cover the midsection and not show cleavage.
- Shorts, skirts, etc., must be long enough so that when hands are extended by the side, the student does not touch skin. Garments should be of adequate length to assure modesty when the student is seated or engaged in school activities.
As families begin to plan vacations, please keep in mind that our students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be taking SC Ready and/or SC PASS in May. The dates are below. Please make every effort to ensure that students are at school on these testing days.
Tuesday, May 9 - ELA
Wednesday, May 10 - TDA Writing
Tuesday, May 16 - Math
Thursday, May 18 - Science (4th grade only)
Thank you!
J. Little

A Snapshot of STEAM Learning at Carver!
Kindergarten students went on a field trip to EdVenture in Hartsville. These students are from Mrs. Dorsey's class.
Mrs. Korb’s class learned about animal adaptations and then worked to camouflage their butterflies so the bird wouldn’t be able to find them!
Students in Ms. Barrineau's first grade class dyed eggs, painted with watercolor, graphed jelly beans, did a peep experiment, and figured out how many coins it takes to sink an plastic egg!
Staff Shout-out!
