Be honest, have you been outbid yet? Our Silent Auction is in full swing and will end on Saturday evening, February 3rd at 9pm! Personally, I’ve had my eye on a few items that I hope to win! Keep in mind that you are not just bidding on items, you are helping your school community. The funds raised during this auction go to classroom improvements, staff development, and a myriad of other ways the PTA is called upon to assist and educate and entertain your Hayes students and staff. So don’t feel guilty about splurging on that class ceramic or those Astros tickets! Go ahead and keep bidding, those monies donated, go to excellent use throughout the school year and often influence students and staff for years to come.

Going Once, Going Twice! It's time for our best and biggest fundraiser of the year! This month, our Spring Silent Auction will start January 28th at 6AM and conclude February 3rd at 9PM! Extended bidding times will be active for those hot ticket auction items that enter a bidding battle until a single bidder emerges victorious! Each auction item has been donated by generous contributors around our city, state, and globe. All proceeds will be used to benefit the children of Hayes Elementary via the Hayes PTA. Better book those haircuts and buy those boutonnieres and corsages, our annual Daddy-Daughter dance is NEXT Friday, February 9th from 6-8pm. It’ll be a groovy time and we recommend you purchase tickets NOW to ensure you have a chance to boogie on down with your little leading ladies! Heads up! Yearbook deadlines will be winding down in the next month. That means opportunities to purchase a yearbook will also soon come to an end. While you place your order for a yearbook, please do not forget to place your order for your ad! Yearbook ads are a great way to show recognition and pride for your student. You’ve got a friend in me!

Our last class party of the year, the Friendship party, will be held on Wednesday, February 14th from 9:30-10:30am in your student’s homeroom. If you plan on attending, please make sure you have signed up through the raptor program. Also, each classroom has a “homeroom parent volunteer” however if you attend, you are always welcome to lend a hand with the crafts, games and activities our PTA Homeroom Coordinator has thoughtfully put together. And of course, we welcome donations to the class party fund. We ask that each student provide $10 as a donation to this fund so we may continue to put these fun parties together for all of your children! If you’ve not sent in yours yet, there’s still time!

For the 2024-2025 school year! Are you a spirited, people person who likes to see your ideas come to fruition? Do you have strong leadership or organizational skills? Are you a communication expert who has opinions on ways the PTA can improve the school atmosphere? Consider joining your Hayes PTA Executive Board!! Our Executive Board elections will be held in March for our PTA Board for the 2024-2025 school year, and we’ve already assembled a nominating committee for new board members. We always welcome and encourage new voices to join our group. Currently there is a need for both a Vice President of Membership and Vice President of Volunteers though each position on the PTA Board is open to election! Those positions are President; VP Programs; VP Membership; VP Volunteers; VP Fundraising; Treasurer; and Secretary.

In addition to these offices, we will seek to have help with open chair positions for committees, for example Hospitality and 5th Grade Party Chair (current 4th grade parents should consider). We will be posting more detailed information on these in the coming days.
