Returning to School (In-Person) Update:

According to the message from Governor Brown in December, districts across the state now have the flexibility of bringing back students to in-person blended learning. We want to assure you that we are putting plans in place to do so, but we are still a little ways out. Please continue to be patient with us while we navigate all of these decisions. We want the best for your student(s) and our staff and will communicate with you as soon as we are able to bring our students back. We truly miss them and know that CDL has not been easy. We appreciate you! In the meantime, I urge you to stay connected to our Facebook Page, YouTube Channel, Learning Platforms and our Newsletters.

Our Grab N' Go Library is still on pause. We will let you know via auto-dialer once we have clearance to resume this activity on an on-going basis. In the meantime, please check out Mrs. Hentz's page to reserve your books ahead of time and pick up during the lunch distribution. This is located in the cafeteria from 11am-1:00pm, Monday-Friday.

We will be hosting a distribution event similar to what we had in the fall as we returned to school. This will have some materials directly from your child's classroom teacher as well as the REQUIRED math workbook (volume 2) your student will need in class daily. You can also use this opportunity to obtain any school supplies your student may need.

Feed Salem is from 10 AM to Noon at the NW corner of Church Street and Hood Avenue. This is a drive-through distribution, entering from the north side of Church Street. Clients should stay in their cars, and Salem Alliance Church staff will load their car with their food. We ask clients to provide us with their name, address, and number of adults and children in their household for our records and Marion-Polk Food Share. There is no need to sign up.

January 18- Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Join us for our monthly Grizzly Pride Assembly on January 29th via Zoom at 2:25pm. This day is also our fourth school spirit day. This theme is Pajama Day. Students can dress up for their online classes.

Your students will be receiving assessments from the classroom teachers or our support staff during the month of January. Please stay in touch with your classroom teacher(s) about when students need to log in to complete these assessments. Contact the office or your teacher if you have any questions.

• Have your supplies ready
• Find a quiet space to work in

Mrs. Zavala is running the annual Oregon Battle of the Books at Grant. OBOB will be happening from now until March 17th. There will be no regional battle this year, but we will announce the school champion team at the March Grizzly Pride Assembly.

She will be using a Zoom meeting to run all of the OBOB battles and meetings. Students interested will need to be in grades 3 -5 and contact Mrs. Zavala.

Third grade battles will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:00-12:25.

Fourth and Fifth grade battles will be held Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:00-12:25.

This week, all students who are participating will meet at their scheduled time, but starting next week, the battles begin. When the battles begin, students only need to come if their team is battling. Mrs. Zavala will send out the schedules to 3rd-5th grade teachers and will also be emailing students directly.
