CATCHING UP WITH... Mrs. Edmonston
Principal's Notes
Dear Coyote Families,
It has been another GREAT WEEK at Canyon View Elementary School! Here are some Highlights from this week... Many families enjoyed the Dine Out and Chorus Performance on Monday evening. In the Innovation Station, classes are participating in Hour of Code activities. In the Science Lab, our second graders learned about four states of matter: liquid, solid, gas, and plasma through hands-on activities. They even got to feel the evaporation from dry ice - how COOL is that? The entire school was treated to an assembly with the Westview Ambassadors, where we learned about showing RESPONSIBILITY and celebrated the generous Giving Tree donations from our amazing Canyon View community.
Let's Make it a Great Year Together,
Mrs. Erica Edmonston (she/her/hers)
Principal, Canyon View Elementary School

PTO's Everyone a Reader is looking for volunteers
We still need a few volunteers!
The Everyone A Reader (EAR) program is looking for volunteer tutors to help kids with their reading. The program was designed by the County Office of Education and its focus at CV is on 2nd graders who are identified by their teachers.
Volunteers come to school at the same time each week to meet with the same 4 students. Students come one at a time for 15 mins each. It takes about 1:15 to get the books ready, meet with the 4 students, and do some brief paperwork.
Volunteers can be parents, grandparents, neighbors, high school students, etc. They do need level 1 clearance as a school volunteer at Canyon View. Level 1 clearance involves a TB test and some paperwork.
We will hold a training for volunteer tutors (or training can be done 1:1 with the program chair).
Please email Sabrina at CVPTOVolunteers@gmail.com with questions or to be placed on the EAR volunteer list.
