The 23-24 academic calendar for Franklin Academy Pembroke Pines K-8 is posted on our website (on the homepage) and all relevant and important dates have been added to the campus Events Calendar, which can also be added to a personal Google, iCalendar or Outlook calendar.

Our youngest scholars are invited to Kickstart Franklin, a special experience designed for Kindergarten students to become acclimated to our campus two days prior to the official first day of school. This is the only day that parents may park and walk their child(ren) to class.

At the Broward County Public School Board meeting held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, the School Board voted not to implement the proposed clear backpack policy for the 2023-2024 school year. As a result, clear backpacks will no longer be required. As a reminder, Franklin Academy students may not use backpacks with wheels as this presents a safety hazard on campus. We will continue to keep you posted on any additional safety initiatives in the future.

Franklin Academy offers transportation for students who live between 2 and 6 miles from our campus. If you live within two miles of the campus, you must provide transportation for your child(ren). Bus transportation will not be provided during our Franklin Kickstart for Kindergarten students. The process of transmitting transportation requests will come directly from our PowerSchool SIS server during the 23-24 Student Registration process.

Franklin Academy is a mandatory uniform school and the dress code is strictly enforced.

All uniforms must be purchased from the school-approved vendor, iUniforms.com.

As agreed to by all Parents/Guardians and defined in the Parent School Contract, Franklin Academy families must complete service hours each academic year. Franklin Academy’s family service hour agreement states that Franklin families will be required to perform a minimum of eight (8) hours of service for the academic year regardless of the number of students enrolled. (Service hours can be performed from July 1st until June 30th of that school year.) Please visit https://ppk8.franklin-academy.org/service-hours for more information.

To Access the Volunteer Portal you are required to complete a one-time “Volunteer Application”.Once the application is approved, you will receive an email with instructions on the next steps, including a link to setup your portal password. All information will remain confidential.

Franklin Academy participates in the National School Lunch Program and free or reduced pricing will be available for those that meet the guidelines. If you already applied online for Free & Reduced Lunch Meal Benefits and have application status questions, please email lunch@franklin-academy.org.The NSLP application will be available for all families on July 1st, 2023 for the 23-24 school year.

Parents are encouraged to pre-pay for lunches on a weekly or monthly basis. Franklin Academy is a NO CASH school. If paying for school lunch by check, please make it payable to Franklin Academy and include the student’s name, homeroom teacher’s name, and that you are making a lunch payment. Lunch payments cannot be processed in the payment section of our website; however, payment for meals can be made via the PowerSchool Parent Portal or at www.slalunch.com.

Once you are logged into the PowerSchool Parent Portal, you will find an "arrow" icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Once you've clicked the icon, a new menu will appear. Using this menu, select the "School Payment Portal" link. The School Payment Portal link will take you to the payment processing page. If you have not created an account and linked it to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you will need to do so. Once you link your two accounts, clicking this link will automatically transfer your credentials and take you directly into the payment portal without requiring you to log in again.
