Grizzell Middle School Family Newsletter - September 1st
Principal's Message
This week I finished the town hall meetings with each grade level team. As part of these meetings, we briefly touched upon aspects of R-Factor that students will learn more about in during our CELT Period throughout the year. We looked at three specific ideas and some of our student leaders helped out by sharing examples of how they have applied their understandings of R-Factor in their own lives. I encourage you to use these lessons and terminology with your student as you work through different situations outside of school.
- E + R = O - There are thousands of events that happen in our life that are out of our control. When these vents occur, we need to press pause and think about the Outcome that we want and form our Response accordingly...we can only control the Response!
- 20 Square Feet - We only control our 20 square feet around us, but the actions and decisions we make in our 20 square feet impact so much more.
- NO BCD! - Blaming, complaining, and defending are sometimes our default response. These actions never solved a problem, achieved a goal, or improved a relationship.
On Wednesday, we had a wonderful turnout for curriculum night. This gave you the opportunity to meet your student's teachers and find out a little about what your student will be experiencing in class throughout the year. Thank you for taking a night out of your busy schedule to join us at Grizzell! Also, thank you for not complaining about the parking. 😁
Have a wonderful weekend.

GMS Student Fall Tailgate scheduled for Thursday, September 7th
Our PTO is planning a fall tailgate for our students on Thursday, September 7th from 3:15 - 5:00 pm. We will provide food, water, and there will be outdoor games for students to enjoy, as well as a few additional fun surprise activities including the return of the teacher dunk tank! We have several athletic events that evening, including volleyball, tennis, and 8th grade football. We encourage the students to stay after the tailgate and support their classmates in one of these events...GMS students get in for free. More information will be shared as we get closer to the date.
Grizzell 2023/2024 Club Information
We will be working with student council to organize a club fair in mid September. Until then, students can see which clubs we currently offer, join the club's schoology group, and even look to start a new club of their choice. Use the linked button below to access all of our club information.
GMS Library and Dublin Branch of the Columbus Library Collaboration
We are excited to share this new collaboration with the GMS Library and the Dublin Branch of the Columbus Library. All 6th graders who do not have a public library card will be given the opportunity to sign up for a card here at school. This will give students another way to get their hands on current books and new releases! This card will have a 5 book material limit. If you have any questions or would like to opt your child out of this opportunity, please contact our GMS Librarian, Mitzi Moshiri at moshiri_mitzi@dublinschools.net by Wednesday, August 30th.
Food Allergies
Teachers will often utilize small treats or candy within their classrooms throughout the year. Some teachers may also use food for experiments or classroom activities. Although most students have these allergies listed on emergency medical forms, some of these allergies may not have been shared. If you have a concern related to the information above, please reach out to your student's team leader and share the food allergy with them as well.
