Take a Peek at Our Week
Student Placement 2023-2024
Over the next few months, we will begin the process of assigning students to an appropriate class for next year. In putting together the classes, we will take into consideration many factors: girl/boy ratio, academic ability, behavioral characteristics, talents, personalities, emotional needs and learning styles. Our goal is to ensure that each child is in a class that has an appropriate balance of students with the proper teacher. We assess each child's individual needs based upon input from the present classroom teacher, student support counselor, reading specialist, and principal.
Class placement is made after reviewing a considerable amount of data. If you feel that we would benefit from additional information, you are welcome to send an email directly to me at kcarter@cbsd.org by May 1st. Consider describing a classroom environment that would be beneficial to your son/daughter. In addition, share any information regarding academic, social or emotional information that you would like us to consider. You should not name a specific teacher. District staffing is not complete until June and teaching assignments may change. While parents are welcome to name a few close friends to be placed with their child, only one friend who is named can be guaranteed. Please use this opportunity to speak to your child's strengths and needs. Please note: requests for specific teachers, or requesting the gender of the teacher, will not be considered.
Knowing that children's strengths and needs, as well as friendships, vary from year to year, all previous year's requests are not considered. If there is information that was previously requested, that you would like noted for the 2023-2024 school year, use this opportunity to restate that information.
We want what is best for your child and that involves them having a wide variety of educational experiences. You are not required to send an email; however I welcome your input. Parents will learn of class placement in August. Emails sent after May 1st will not be considered.
Thank you,
Kelly Carter
Color Run - THANK YOU!
What a fun and colorful fundraising event! Thank you to the committee, the volunteers, the teachers & staff, the board members, the parents and the kids for making this a successful event.
The raffle baskets were fantastic; the generosity of our families is truly amazing. Thank you to everyone who contributed to them. And thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets to win them, we raised over $1400. Congratulations to all of the winners!
Calling All Writers and Artists
It's that time again: we need submissions for the 2023 issue of "The Mustang Muse," Gayman's very own literary journal. Whether it's a comic, a poem, a short story, a (brief) research piece, a drawing, a painting or a doodle, PLEASE SEND IT IN! Each student who submits their work will have at least one piece included and published in our spring issue! Beginning the week of April 10th, each teacher will have a large manilla envelope in his or her classroom for collecting Muse submissions. Please make sure each piece is clearly marked with the student's first name, last name and grade. Electronic submissions are also accepted — just scan and email them to gaymanmustangmuse@gmail.com. Deadline for submissions is Friday, April 28th.
