Introducing The BKATS House System!
A house system is an organizational structure used in schools to promote a sense of community, camaraderie, and healthy competition among students and staff. In a house system, the student body is divided into smaller groups or "houses," each with its own identity, leadership structure, and sometimes even colors, mascots, or names. The primary goals of a house system are:
Belonging: House systems create a sense of belonging and pride among students.
Leadership: They offer leadership opportunities for students.
Competition: Healthy competition fosters excellence in various areas.
Character: They promote character development and values.
Mentorship: Older students mentor younger ones, fostering positive relationships.
Diversity: Houses celebrate the diversity within the school community.
Recognition: Students and houses receive recognition for achievements.
Community: Engagement in community service projects instills social responsibility.
Traditions: Houses often have unique traditions and rituals.
Involvement: Strengthening the school's community bonds.
Congratulations to our September Bobkat Lunch Winners for exemplifying what it means to follow our BKATS model!
World Teachers's Day!
Friends of BK
Welcome to October!!! FOBK, along with the School Council, have been busy making plans for the school year. The main focus of fundraising this year continues to be the BK Playground Project. We have raised an incredible amount of money over the past two years and would like to thank the BK community for that. This year, while we continue to focus on fundraising, we are also looking at corporate sponsors and grants. If you know of someone or something that can contribute to our BK Playground please let us know.
Healthy hunger is up and running and we have enjoyed seeing all the happy faces at lunch. If you have yet to order, please log on to healthy hunger (https://healthyhunger.ca) to make Monday and Wednesday mornings a breeze.Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help hand out hot lunches, it has been greatly appreciated - Many hands make light work!!!
Although the playground rebuild continues to be the main focus for our funds, there are always other needs that pop up within our school community. We have been told that the school's IPads and Chrome books are outdated and need replacement. We have therefore decided the proceeds from the Apple Fundraiser will go towards this initiative so get your apples today!!
The deadline for Davison BC Apple orders are fast approaching - Monday, October 9. Please visit https://linktr.ee/FOBK to make your order today!! Who doesn't love a BC apple??
Thank you! FOBK Executive
