Also, as a reminder please remind students to not share their food (i.e., takis, cookies, drinks) with other students to ensure the safety/health of all students. Thank you!
January Important Dates
Thursday, January 4th through Friday, February 23rd: WIDA Access Testing
Northwest English Language Learner students will be taking their WIDA Access Testing. If your child is taking these exams please encourage them to get a good night's sleep each night and to eat a nutritious breakfast at home or at school.
Monday, January 15th and Monday, January 22nd: No School
There is no school January 15th; Martin Luther King Jr. Day Observed. If there is a snow day January 2nd through January 12th the 15th is our 1st snow make-up day.
There is no school January 22nd; secondary conferences will be held this day.
Friday, January 12th: Author Visit
Northwest welcomes an Author Visit from Heather Fox and Jonathan Stutzman! You can purchase books prior to the Author Visit on January 12. They will provide a time to sign books for students who purchase a book and bring it to school the day of their visit. Click here to see the attached links to purchase a book.
Tuesday, January 16th: PTO Meeting
Join us at Northwest on Tuesday, January 16th at 3:45pm for our monthly PTO meetings. We would love more parent involvement in this group, we value your input in providing meaningful experiences for our students. Volunteer to help for one event or all of them, there is no obligation!

Mobile Dentist
The mobile dentist will be at Northwest Elementary, January 11, 12, & 16.
Forms were already sent home. If you need an additional one please stop in and ask the office for one; forms are due by Friday, January 5th . Thanks for your help in keeping our kids healthy!

We had an exceptional turn out to our 4th and 5th grade winter concert. Northwest thanks all families, friends, and guests of our students who showed up to support them. Additionally, thank you for supporting our music program!

βοΈWinter Reading ChallengeβοΈ
Over the winter break we did a reading challenge where students collected mystery letters after listening to a winter story. Thank you to all the staff members who read stories for our students! Students who completed their log and turned it in will be receiving a celebration!

Please encourage your child to read 15-30 minutes each night! Practicing reading leads to stronger readers and better learners.
Set aside time to bond with your child/children and read with them to help foster a love of reading!

Miss Judy & the Movement Laboratory Dancers
Miss Judy and the dancers of the Movement Laboratory shared their time and talent here at Northwest before winter break. The dancers, along with the narration of Miss Judy, put on an exceptional performance followed by the dancers reading to students!
Domino's Pizza
Thank you to Domino's Pizza for donating pizza for our K5 Change-For-Change winner celebration. Our students worked really hard and we appreciate your generosity to celebrate them!
PowerPacks Sign Ups
PowerPack's mission: We empower families with education and ingredients to create nutritious weekend meals, so their children return to school fed and ready to learn.
PowerPacks can be picked up right here at Northwest every Thursday 3:15 - 3:45pm.

Attendance and SAIPs
ππ§You can EMAIL absent, doctor, and early dismissal notes!π§π
If your child misses school please, send a note within 3 school days of the absence.
You can email notes to:
NW-Attendance@lebanon.k12.pa.us
Once your note is received you will be sent an email confirmation.
After 12 tardies (late to school) and/or 3 unexcused absences students will be put on a School Attendance Improvement Plan.
Update Your Contact Information
It is important that we have accurate phone numbers, emails, and addresses for students in case of an emergency. Additionally, teacher-to-parent communication is very important in supporting students throughout the school year.
