We're excited to present the first edition of the Petty Post, your bi-weekly source of updates from our school community! We had a terrific start to the school year, and we are also delighted to introduce our new Assistant Principal, Kristina Franchi. With her background as a Spanish teacher at Antioch Upper Grade School, Mrs. Franchi brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education to our team. Her dedication to student success and growth aligns perfectly with our values here at Petty Elementary. Let's give a warm welcome to Mrs. Franchi as she joins us in our journey of creating an exceptional learning environment for our students.

Calling all 1st- 5th grade students who are interested in playing a string instrument! This week, your students saw a demonstration of all the string instruments offered at Petty.
If your student is interested in learning a string instrument, please see the attached letter and Google form to sign up. Please sign up by Tuesday, August 29th. If you have any questions, please reach out to Georgia Slojkowski (gslojkowski@antioch34.com).
Beginning Orchestra Information Letter
If your student has participated in orchestra in previous years, please see the Returning Orchestra Information Letter and the Returning Orchestra Sign Up Form.
Strike Up The Band! We are excited to offer 4th and 5th grade students the opportunity to join the D34 Beginning Band. This week, all students were shown a demonstration of all available band instruments, including Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, and Percussion.
If your child is interested in joining band, please complete the Google Form linked below. We would also like you to attend a brief Parent Information Night on Tuesday, August 29th. The meeting will be at 6:30 PM and will be held in the Cafeteria at AUGS (Enter the door on the side of the building, Door 7N)

Parents will have the opportunity at the meeting on the 29th to sign up for a 10 minute ‘Instrument Fitting’ appointment. These appointments will be after school on either Wednesday, August 30th or Thursday, August 31st.
Finally, if your child is a 5th grader, participated in band, and is continuing this year, they DO NOT need to complete this form. Look for a direct email from your child’s band director!
