Reopening Our Schools on Oct. 29!

We miss seeing our students in person and can’t wait to welcome them back to campus in a few weeks. Here’s what you need to know:

• We are transitioning to a hybrid model of instruction on Wednesday, October 28.

• October 28 will be a distance learning day for all students where teachers will go over their expectations with their students.

• We are reopening our schools on Thursday, October 29 to our Cohort B students.

• Students in Cohort A will be welcomed back on Monday, November 2.

• Monday, October 26, and Tuesday, October 27, are school days, and students will be connecting with their teachers. They will also be teacher prep days.

We wanted to give you an update on the status of the safety measures we were still finishing

• MERV-13 air filters have been installed at all of our schools and all of our TTUSD facilities

• All of the desk shields have arrived. The installation is almost complete with desk shields in every classroom at all of our schools. We only have eight remaining classrooms (at NTS) to finish which will be done this week.

• The new interior wash stations should arrive this week for each of our campuses

• We have created a TTUSD dashboard for COVID-19 cases within TTUSD (students and staff) that will be in place for when we reopen our schools. The dashboard is live (you can find it on our COVID-19 updates and resources page at ttusd.org/virus

As a reminder, for everyone’s peace of mind, TTUSD has specific TTUSD COVID procedures prepared with a systematic process in place for notifying staff and parents should COVID-19 hit one of our schools when we reopen. We’re following PCOE’s four response scenarios outlined here. As a summary, the four scenarios are as follows:

• Scenario 1 (Symptoms): A student or staff member exhibits any COVID-19 symptoms, which cannot otherwise be explained with pre-existing conditions (ex. seasonal allergies).

• Scenario 2 (Close Contact w/Positive Case): A student or staff member has been in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19.

• Scenario 3 (Positive test): A student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19.

• Scenario 4 (Negative test): A student or staff member tests negative for COVID-19

We are putting the finishing touches on a new Safety Guidebook for all TTUSD families - students, parents, and staff - which details the safety measures in place, when you can and can’t come on campus, and the expectations for when students and staff are on campus. New FAQs will be posted as well. Stay tuned for both of them which will be out by next week.

The health and safety of our students, staff, and families are of the utmost importance and it’s guiding all we do in planning for an outstanding school year. When students are back on campus, school will look much different than in previous years due to the new health and safety measures. This plan to reopen schools is based on current guidance from the public health officials and state agencies and will be updated as the situation evolves.

BEFORE ARRIVING AT SCHOOL

Screening at home must take place each school day:

• Make screening part of your morning routine! Families are required to conduct a health assessment each morning before leaving for school or getting on a school bus. Students and adults are recommended to self-screen for respiratory symptoms such as cough, congestion, or shortness of breath, as well as nausea, fever, chills, or body aches.

• Students and adults experiencing those symptoms should not attend school.

• Families are recommended to take temperatures daily before going to school. Anyone with a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher should not go to a school site. Personal illness, quarantine, and COVID-19 illness or symptom related absences will be excused.

• Any adult accessing campus must conduct a self-assessment before coming to any school facility. If a person is experiencing symptoms, they should stay home and will not be admitted on campus.

As students return, it will look different.

Arriving at school:

• All students and staff members will be required to wear face coverings.

• Parents and visitors will have very limited access to the school campus.

• Each TTUSD school site will have designated routes for entry and exit in order to limit direct contact with others.

• Each TTUSD school site will have signage throughout campus to remind students and staff about social distancing, hand washing, and spreading germs.

• The District has secured additional safety equipment including but not limited to: mobile hand washing stations, no-touch thermometers, improved air filtration, student partitions, and hand sanitizer.
