One Community for Equity: A district, family and community partnership in action

The Office of Equity Advancement for the West Hartford Public Schools has established a collaborative partnership with parent-led organizations and community stakeholder groups sharing common goals and interests leading to more equitable schools and a more equitable community. As we strive to achieve our mission, we are compelled to actively seek the perspectives of all who make WHPS such a richly diverse educational community.

Purpose

In the service of equity, this collaborative serves as:

A forum where WHPS can share information about its efforts to achieve equity for children
A collaborative space to exchange ideas and solicit feedback
A vehicle for equity-focused projects and ongoing programs seek partners in the work
An platform where stakeholders may seek feedback and advisement

One Community Kick off Meeting

The Office of Equity Advancement is excited about what the upcoming school year has in store! We look forward to our first meeting on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. We invite you to join us as we come together as a community to share, engage, and connect. Superintendent Paul Vicinus and Executive Director Theresa Rangel will be in attendance to provide updates and insights for West Hartford Public Schools 2024-2025 school year. RSVP HERE!

Meeting Dates

Monthly

Open meetings will take place monthly, in person. Locations will be shared with the group ahead of each meeting. Meeting dates and location can be found HERE.

Structure

Monthly meetings will include information sharing across the network, action planning sessions and general public/community participation in parent/stakeholder education workshops and presentations about district initiatives. Through this structure, we aim to inform, ask, engage and collaborate.
