Student of the Month
Finley Oates December Student of the Month
BISD Baord Goal 4: Promote a positive and service-oriented culture within the Bonham ISD.
The kindergarten classes made Christmas ornaments for the veterans at the VA. These students made Christmas Trees.
BISD Board Goal 3: Ensure all students have high levels of academic achievement
with a focus on literacy and mathematics through improved leadership, instruction, support and a climate of continuous improvement.
Goal Setting
Every 3rd grade student has had the opportunity to set down individually with Mrs. Vaught or Mrs. Neal. They have identifed short and long-term academic goals and put them in writing. They discussed what they wanted to accomplish and what skills they wanted to master. Mrs. Vaught and Mrs. Neal helped them make sure their goals were realistic and what it would take to reach those goals. They also described what each goal will look like when it is accomplished.
Spelling Practice
Mrs. Hilliard's 2nd grade class planted Milkweed in their classroom garden in hopes that by the spring it will be nice and full. Milkweed is vital for the Monarch Butterfly's life cycle. It is the only plant that Monarch Caterpillars will eat. These caterpillars hatch from eggs laid on the plant before consuming its leaves.
Lauren Murray, an environmental science major at Okalhoma State University, visited some of our first grade classes to teach students about kinds of soil and the importance soil plays in our ecosystem.
BISD Board Goal 2: Attract and retain a high quality staff by offering competitive compensation, great working conditions and recognizing excellence in performance.
Pepper may not be the typical staff member, but we know he will make Finley-Oates a better place. We think he will be a "life changer".
