Hello Families

As we continue to inform the community about our upcoming Replacement Levy on the Feb. 13 ballot, we get asked about how this impacts a property owner's taxes.


Because voters approve a capped levy dollar amount (not a tax rate), if property values go up, the tax rate is generally adjusted downward so a school district does not collect more than what voters approved. This levy is asking voters to renew the existing levy, meaning property owners will continue paying about the same amount they're currently paying for this levy.


We invite you to learn more about this topic in the coming weeks at in-person public informational Q&A sessions and in district communications. The next public information session is 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at the Camano Island library. This event is available in-person and streaming online via our Facebook page.

Warm Coats For Kids & Christmas House

If your child needs a warm coat this winter, or a holiday gift, the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank can help.


Nearly any child aged 0-18 living in the Stanwood-Camano area is eligible to receive a new coat and a visit to their Christmas House shop. In order to qualify and receive a shopping appointment, you must be able to show verification of Stanwood-Camano residence for you and your children.


To help verify you live in the community or attend the Stanwood-Camano School District, some documents may include:


  • Drivers License or State ID

  • Lease or Mortgage agreement

  • Phone or Utility Bill

  • Bank Statement

  • Birth Certificates

  • School enrollment forms

  • Proof of guardianship


You may bring proof of residency documents to the food bank (27030 102nd Ave. NW, Stanwood) from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday- Saturday to meet with a staff member and receive an official appointment ticket for a later date.


Warm Coats For Kids services run now through Dec. 21. Christmas House services operate from Dec. 5 to Dec. 21. Both programs operate from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Thanksgiving food distribution

A household can receive a ticket for thanksgiving meal items during the next two serve days at the food bank:


  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18
  • 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22


The food bank is then closed Nov. 23-26.

Light up the holidays

The Stanwood High School choir and jazz ensemble will be part of the festivities during the city's Light Up Your Holidays event on Dec. 2.


The Stanwood Commerce Alliance, City of Stanwood, and downtown businesses will host the annual tree lightings and holiday festivities throughout the day in both the west and east downtown blocks.


  • The west-end event runs from 4-5:30 p.m.
  • The east-side festivities go from 5-7:30 p.m.


Both events feature joyful tree lightings, Santa visits, dance performances, a canned food drive, the aforementioned SHS musical guests, and more!

Don't miss the SHS fall play

Reminder that there are still two more showing of Stanwood High's fall play: "Radium Girls" by D. W. Gregory.


Powerful and engrossing, "Radium Girls" is an unflinching look at the peculiarly American obsessions with health, wealth, and the commercialization of science.


The final two performances are at 7 p.m. tonight and tomorrow night (Nov. 17 and 18) in the SHS Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for students and can be purchased at the box office or online via GoFan.

There is no school on Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
