Principal's Message
Hello Springwater Students and Families,
What a great first week! Thank you everyone for your patience as the district and First Student problem-solved bus routes and all the other challenges of the first few days of school. I am so impressed with how wonderfully respectful and positive students were this past week! I have truly enjoyed having all of our students back in the building! We celebrated the end of the first week with a visit from an ice cream truck at lunch.
In this update you will find a link to "opt-in" to COVID testing (in case your student gets sick at school). COVID tests are extremely challenging to find right now. STHS has rapid-tests (that only take 15 minutes). A negative test can significantly decrease the quarantine time for a student (regardless of their vaccination status). Please reach out to the school if you have questions. Students who are 15 years or older can sign their own permission slip.
Below you will also find some short videos about CANVAS, the new Learning Management System, that is taking the place of Google Classroom. There are many benefits to CANVAS -- a big one being that it syncs with ParentVue and StudentVue much more effectively than Google Classroom. In the long run this will hopefully make it much easier for you to track student academic progress and grades. All teachers will have made the switch to CANVAS by October 31st.
Thank you all for your continued support and patience as we continue to navigate the challenges of COVID together. As always, please reach out to us with questions or concerns!
Stay safe and take care,
Ryan Blaszak

Below are some helpful short videos to support students and parents with CANVAS. Thanks and, as always, reach out if you have questions!
COVID-19 Testing Information
Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms while at school will have access to a COVID-19 test.
Following are some important details to know about the COVID-19 test:
- The test is VOLUNTARY. Students must have a “COVID-19 Testing Consent Form” on-file before a test can be administered to a student. The form below must be fully completed and signed by a parent or guardian.
- Testing is intended for students who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
- COVID-19 symptoms include fever of 100.4° F or higher, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing and new loss of taste or loss of smell.
- Students are required to administer their own test by swabbing their own nose. A testing administrator will oversee the process and provide verbal instructions to the student.
- Testing will be conducted in the school’s Care Room or a private space.
- Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms on-site and are tested (whether positive or negative result) will be sent home. Further instructions will be provided at that time.
- Students who develop COVID-19 symptoms while not at school may not get tested at the school. Testing is only available for students who are already on-site and are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
- Please use this information to decide what is best for your student. If you have more questions, contact our office at 503-261-4600
School Pictures
School pictures and ID card pictures for all Students will be taken on Monday, September 20th.
The purchase of a photography package from Lifetouch Company is an individual family decision. Picture packets were handed out to Students on Thursday. Pictures can also be purchased online at https://lifetouch.com/
Online Registration
Parent Verification for the 2021-2022 School Year is still open!
