Kindness Month
Word Wall Words
Pictured above are next week’s words. A special thanks goes out to Zechariah for coloring the page. Below, he is searching for his new words in a book. As you read to your child, see if they can find any familiar words in the text.
Literacy Workstations
Aria is putting together 3-letter word puzzles.
Word Work
During Word Work, we practiced writing a variety of letters, following proper formation. We also wrote Word Wall Words on our dry erase boards.
Writers Workshop
In Writer’s Workshop we are writing stories about our lives. The stories and illustrations show emotions. Bessie-Grace enjoyed sharing her writings with the class.
Above, Mrs. Drayton’s 3rd grade class wrote us a note. Sterling (Bessie-Grace’s brother) and classmate brought it to us. Below, we wrote them back and had a quick visit.
Reading
As readers we are learning Super Powers! In the picture above we are using Picture Power and Sound Power to determine what the mystery word will be. We knew the first letter was an r, so run and race were options.
In the video below, Laila demonstrates Pointer Power. Notice how she taps once under the first letter of each word.
Laila using her Pointer Power!
Shared Reading
It was fun to see Zamora’s A-Z book on the Smartboard. The books are on your child’s ChromeBook in Clever in Learning A-Z. Please encourage your child to listen, read, and take quizzes on the Learning A-Z site.
Math
We are learning how to do subtraction problems.
Math Workstations
Aaliyah practiced addition. To create the equations she used two poppers and used “dog bones” as counters. Then she recorded the equations.
Social Studies
In Social Studies we finished up our wants and needs unit. Ask your child what the difference is between a want and a need. See if they can think of an example of each.
February Challenge
With February beginning next week, we would like to challenge your child to learn how to tie their shoes.
Wishing Grace and Braelyn Happy Birthdays!
