Principal's Message
Dear AEEC Families,
This has been the most amazing start to a school year! Each day has been filled with making new friends, establishing procedures and routines, and active learning. We successfully had our first Pep Rally, Picture Day, and Fire Drill.
Our PTO annual fundraiser is kicking off on September 20th. The theme for this year is "All in for AEEC!" You will see information coming home soon from our amazing PTO team. This is a great opportunity for business sponsors to support our school while getting your name out to our school community and beyond. Anyone may contribute. These funds are critical for supporting our facility, curricular support, fine arts, and beyond! We hope to purchase performance stage storage and Ride Verified with a portion of the funds raised.
Thank you for your support and a fantastic start to the school year! We know that the recipe for success is when schools and families work together. Our staff is strengthening relationships with families after Meet the Teacher and Curriculum Night events. We look forward to learning and growing together!
With appreciation,
Glori Lammons
Curriculum News
Have you noticed or heard the words “Alabama Literacy Act” floating around? Do you wonder what those words mean? The Alabama Literacy Act is a law that was passed in 2019 to help improve the reading proficiency of public school kindergarten through 3rd grade students. The goal is for students to be able to read at or above grade level by the end of 3rd grade.
Below you will find links that provide more information about the Alabama Literacy Act and ideas on how parents can support and encourage reading at home.

You will receive more information about The Alabama Literacy Act from your child’s teacher during parent/teacher conferences in October. We look forward to reading and growing together this school year!

Title 1 News
Happy fall! I would like to take the time to share some information about our district’s Parent Center. It is located at the Auburn Junior High School and we have a wonderful parent liaison, Wanda Lewis, that can help you with mostly anything concerning the parent center and needing outside community sources. Please check out the flyer.
If you ever have any questions about Title 1 related to AEEC or any questions concerning intervention, please don’t hesitate to email me at padorman@auburnschools.org.

Nurse News
Happy September!
Please remember, per Auburn City School policy, ALL medications must be brought to the nurse, & the prescriber parent authorization form will need to be filled out per guidelines. Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns! We like to make this process as easy as possible for parents. Thank you for helping to keep our students with food allergies safe. . It is most helpful to include a change of clothing for your student(s) in case of accidents as availability & sizing are limited in the extra clothes closet.
Well wishes,
Nurse Haley

Music and Art News
What's Happening in Art!
In the Art Room we have begun our journey through the elements of art (line, shape, color, form, value, texture, and space). The first element we will work with and learn about is line. Great conversation starters with your artists would be: ”What kind of lines are there? Can you find a zig zag line? What’s your favorite kind of line?” Our next element of art that we will work with is shape.
Art is a line around your thoughts.― Gustav Klimt
Thank you,
Mrs. Kuhlman
What's Happening in Music!
This month in Music, we are exploring locomotor and non-locomotor movement, learning simple songs, action songs, echo songs, and call-and-response songs, and distinguishing between our four voice types (shouting, speaking, singing, and whispering). Our current favorites include “You Sing a Song and I’ll Sing a Song,” “Say Hello,” and “Shaking Together."
We are also starting to play classroom instruments, and first graders have begun to prepare for our October showcase - we can’t wait to show you what we are learning!
Thank you,
Mrs. Schiller
