December Principal Message
December is a fun month here in Wallowa Schools. This is the month where we see so much growth and learning in our students. Teachers are really excited about this progress! The calendar below shows all of the fun spirit days, activities, and concerts this month! The newsletter highlights activities during the month of November and kicks off the month of December.

Thanksgiving Feast Welcomed Families and Community Members!
For the first time in three years, the Thanksgiving Feast was open to families and community members! Over 260 meals were served! Students made special centerpieces to decorate the tables! The food was yummy and it was exciting to once again welcome the community and families into our schools for the feast!
Wallowa "Macy's" Thanksgiving Day Parade a Hit!
Fourth and fifth grade students led the first Wallowa "Macy's" Thanksgiving Day Parade, complete with balloon and shoebox floats. Younger students lined the halls to enjoy the parade. Christmas music echoed down the halls and there was even an appearance by Santa!
Pride Assembly Celebrates Students!
The November 30th Pride Assembly gathered students together and celebrated their learning and growth. Students showed their pride, cheered, sang, and received awards for perfect attendance and efforts with the monthly theme of gratitude and giving.

Family Groups Kick Off the Next Character Focus: Welcoming & Acceptance
Family groups on November 30th kicked off the new character focus: welcoming & Acceptance. The book, "We're All Wonders," was used to encourage kindness and celebrate the uniqueness of us all. Students engaged in activities after reading the book. Older students mentor younger students and serve as student leaders.
Prevention Specialist Teaches Kelso's Choice
Our prevention specialist has been teaching Kelso's Choice to our younger students this fall. Kelso is the leading tool for teaching conflict management skills for children. Students learn to solve small problems on their own and learn to get help from adults for big problems. The learning increases confidence and helps prevent bullying.
