Arkansas Happenings
LISA Academy and Little Rock School District
Schools in the Little Rock School District and LISA Academy Public Charter Schools have been participating in PBIS Tier I team training.
Little Rock began 2024 with a Booster training for schools that attended Tier I team training last school year and Day 1 of Tier I Team Training for their second cohort. The Booster training was well attended and schools really enjoyed being able to share their accomplishments and get some good ideas from each other. Cohort 2 began their training by learning about the Foundations of PBIS and building and/or reviewing their Behavior Expectations and Matrices.
LISA Academy schools are receiving individual training and coaching that fits the needs of each individual school. It's exciting to see how the schools are implementing various components of PBIS and working towards fidelity of implementation.
Update on Project PEACE
Schools participating in Project PEACE are beginning their baseline data collection. The primary Goals and Objectives of Project PEACE are focused on preventing school violence by implementing preventive measures and improving students', staff's, and families' experiences and perceptions (school climate). So, the first step is determining how these groups currently perceive the school climate. Schools will also assess where they are in the PBIS implementation process. These surveys will help each school create a School Climate Action Plan.
If you are interested in collecting data on School Climate, you can contact us by email at pbis@astate.edu or call 870-972-2287. PBISApps has a suite of School Climate surveys for elementary students, secondary students, school personnel, and parents/guardians. They are free and A-State coordinators can get everything set up for you.

Celebrating Black History Month
2024 BLACK HISTORY MONTH THEME
African Americans and the Arts
From the Association for the Study of African American Life and History:
"African American art is infused with African, Caribbean, and the Black American lived experiences. In the fields of visual and performing arts, literature, fashion, folklore, language, film, music, architecture, culinary and other forms of cultural expression, the African American influence has been paramount. African American artists have used art to preserve history and community memory as well as for empowerment. Artistic and cultural movements such as the New Negro, Black Arts, Black Renaissance, hip-hop, and Afrofuturism, have been led by people of African descent and set the standard for popular trends around the world. In 2024, we examine the varied history and life of African American arts and artisans."
