Halloween Dress

Reminder for students: if you choose to dress up for Halloween during the school day, your costumes must still adhere to the school dress code (which is included at the end of this newsletter). Other restrictions are the following: no masks/face coverings, no excessive gore, no weapons.

Also, please remember our Nut Alert policy if bringing in candy (ie. no peanuts, nuts, almonds, etc.)

2023 Craft Show - Band Fundraiser

The 2023 craft show to support our band program is Saturday, November 11 from 10:00-4:00. More information can be found in the 2023 Craft Show Flyer.

Parent Club

Our first parent club meeting will be next Thursday (November 2) from 10:00-11:00 at RHS in the media center.

RHS Ski Club

Snow will be falling before we know it -- that means it's time to join RHS' Ski & Snowboard Club! Members will ski or ride at Pine Knob from December - February on Fridays from 3 - 10 pm. Any RCS student, parent, sibling or friend can join the club! Registration closes on Thursday, 11/30. 2023-2024 Club Spirit wear is also available to order until Thursday, 11/30. Romeo Restored

Romeo Restored, our school thrift store, will be open for all students during lunches on Tuesdays and Fridays and after school on Wednesdays. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Mrs. Gedert (pamela.gedert@romeok12.org).

School Show: 12 Angry Jurors

The Romeo Theatre Company will be performing its school show of 12 Angry Jurors on Thursday, November 2 during 4th period:

• Students will be able to purchase tickets from 10/25-10/31 (until sold out) for $10 in the following locations:
• 9GA in the main office
• RHS during lunch

• Students may only purchase tickets if they:
• Are caught up in all work/tests in 4th period
• Can be trusted to behave properly at the show (ie. not too many discipline incidents)
• Please know that some classes (possibly AP classes) may not be able to permit students to miss class for the show due to scheduled lessons/exams

Romeo High School Science Olympiad Team

The Romeo High School Science Olympiad Team season has begun, and we are looking for 10-12th graders that have an interest in the sciences. Science Olympiad is a competition-based program that requires students to challenge themselves in science content outside of school, through performance-based construction projects, application based challenges, and/or written tests. This is a great resume builder, and a great way to socialize and experience collaborative-based projects. We will have our 3rd meeting on Wed, Oct 18th @ 2:30pm in the HHP Commons, and welcome anyone to attend. Please email scott.taubitz@romeok12.org if you have any questions.

Last Call Before Costs Go Up

Graduation will be here before you know it! Only about half of our Class of 2024 has paid their graduation fee and/or ordered their cap and gown. This is the last call before costs go up. If you’re unsure if you/your child has paid, please contact Mrs. Schornack (sara.schornack@romeok12.org) to check.

• Link to pay graduation fee - This fee provides the student with 2 tickets for the graduation ceremony and helps to pay for graduation itself. This will also let us know how your name should appear on your diploma. Students that don’t pay this will not receive any graduation tickets nor be able to purchase additional tickets

• Link to cap and gown payment - Josten’s will be here Monday, October 23rd during lunch to collect orders or for any additional questions.

October is College Month

Seniors: October is Michigan College Month! Be sure to check out this list of colleges with no application fees or waived application fees for select dates in October.

School Safety

• During school hours, all visitors must check in at the main office. Any visitor going past the main office will have a quick background check done
• Hall passes are required for students, during class time, when students aren't in class
• Students are not allowed to go to their cars during the school day
• Report safety concerns a high school staff member

Dress Code

What is appropriate for school is similar to what is appropriate for grandma's house or church:

• No alcohol, drugs, or sexual paraphernalia
  
• No undergarments showing
  
• No low-cut tops
  
• Shirt bottoms must rest below the belly-button (ie. no crop tops)

Attendance & Tardies

Students need to be in school on time, every day (unless there is a legitimate reason for an absence). Additionally, students need to be on time to each class. Here is our tardy policy:

• 5 tardies: Detention
  
• 8 tardies: Meeting with your academy principal and parent
  
• 10 tardies: ISS and loss of parking pass (if applicable)

As our district continues to work to support our students with food allergies, please see our Common Food Allergy Protocol to learn more about the measures we are taking to ensure our students remain safe.

Other

• During class time, student cell phones are required to be kept in the classroom cell phone holders
