Montessori and Nature
Nautre is an integral part of the Montessori curriculum. A group of 9th grade students were asked to reflect on how nature has played a part in their time here at MSA. Here is what they had to say.
In the Montessori environment, we value being able to go outside and be a part of nature. We have a Horticulture program where our students are able to witness many things that nature has to provide for us.
In primary, at a very young age, you are taught how to do numerous activities with nature, even just being outside for recess was a great connection with the Earth. But in middle school is when you really learn a lot about nature and how good it is for you. I had horticulture with Mr. Jordan which was really interesting to learn where our food comes from. Planting, weeding, being with friends outside was even a connection with nature.
