Principal Message
I hope this message finds you well. As we embark on the second half of the school year. I want to take a moment to reflect on our journey and express my gratitude for your continued support and collaboration. The school focus for February is Compassion. Cultivating compassion is a powerful way to foster empathy, understanding, and unity within our Lockwood community.
Here are a few ways we can collectively nurture a community of compassionate members at Lockwood-
1. Practice Active Listening: Take the time to truly listen to one another.
2. Support One Another: Life is full of challenges, and it's essential that we support each other in difficult times.
3. Encourage Inclusivity: Embrace and celebrate the diversity within our school community. Please join us for Multi-Cultural Fair on February 13th.
4. Engage in Acts of Service: Encourage students to participate in community service projects.
By working together to prioritize compassion, we can create a school community that uplifts and supports each individual. Let us strive to be a place where everyone feels heard, understood, and cared for.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to making Lockwood a compassionate and inclusive learning environment for all.
In partnership,
Sam

Accessing ParentVue
A single username and password allow parents to access information for all of their children, regardless of the grade level or school of attendance. Each parent has an individual account that covers all children.
If you are already registered, use the ParentVUE login.
If you have never used ParentVUE, you will need to request an activation key. If you have accessed ParentVUE in the past or enrolled online, please click the "Forgot Password" link on the ParentVUE login page.
Click here for directions on how to view Report Cards in ParentVUE: Navigating to Report Cards
A note from Nurse Trina
Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed appropriately for outside recesses and potential drills or emergencies. With the recent cold weather and fire drill we have had many students significantly underdressed for safety (short sleeve t-shirts and shorts with no coats). Children's core temperature can quickly drop and put them at risk for hypothermia. If your family has any need of assistance with winter coats, please reach out to Nurse Trina at troufs@nsd.org or Joe Kim, School Counselor at jkim4@nsd.org.
Interested In Learning More About PACE?
PACE at Lockwood is now conducting tours for the 2024-2025 school year! Parents Active in Cooperative Education (PACE) is a choice educational enrichment program offered to Northshore School District (NSD) students in grades 1-5. Join us on one of our tours to learn more about the program and to see if it would be the right option for your family. Taking a tour is a great way to learn more about PACE at Lockwood and includes more in-depth information about the program including enrichments, participation requirements and the opportunity to ask questions. We offer both in-person and virtual options, with the in-person tours providing an opportunity to briefly observe our classrooms.
Tours run now through February 7th with both virtual and in-person options. Please sign up for a date of your choice here: https://bit.ly/3FmkD3z. For questions, please contact our Membership Chair, Kelly McDonald, at membership@paceatlockwood.org

PE News
We have started hockey games, which is always a favorite among students. Students learn how to referee as well as play. Hockey club is going on for 3rd and 4th graders February 5-9th before school. Students enrolled should have received a confirmation email. After mid-winter break, we are starting our gymnastics unit until March 15th. In gymnastics, they learn different body positions, such as pike, straddle, tuck, and layout. They learn forward rolls, peanut roll, backward roll, m&m roll, Indiana Jones roll, straddle vault, and many many more. PLEASE make sure your students are wearing socks during this unit. Students will be taking shoes off, and the requirement to participate is dry socks. If you have new socks you'd like to donate, please feel free to send them in. Also, please make sure your student wears shoes they can take off and put on all by themselves during these 3 weeks.
Career Day- Inspire kids to envision themselves in the future!
This week PTA is sending out the teacher scheduling form to all interested parents!
Come and share your passion, vocation, and career! Each teacher will have 3 different working parents, from different professions, come to their classroom for 20 minutes per parent.
Presenters are asked to consider: What course of study did you undertake for this work? What is your work place like? Who are your colleagues and with whom do you collaborate? What is a typical work day? What do you love the most about your work?
Do you have what it takes? Express your interest here. We are organizing teacher schedules soon!
Lockwood Multi-Cultural Fair
