College: University of North Texas – BBA

Teaching History: This is my first year at Trivium and I’m so excited to be here! Previously, I worked for Plano ISD in the Special Education department with 1st and 2nd grade.

Family: I have been married 5 years this month to my very supportive husband Aaron. We have two children; our son Brantley is 3 years old, and our daughter Brooklyn is 4 months old. We currently live in Allen, TX with our two dogs Diz and Divot.

Interests/Hobbies Outside of School: We love to travel! During Fall Break, my husband and I are planning a trip to New York to celebrate our Anniversary and my Birthday… the Big 40!

We have gotten carpool down to 18 minutes or less in the afternoon. As always, please remember to stay off of your cell phones and enjoy the beautiful scenery of our lovely campus!

As a reminder, you may work with your child's elementary teacher to bring a snack to share with the class in celebration of your child's birthday (only grades K-6). Birthday snacks will be served after 2pm as time permits. Parents/Guardians are not allowed to attend birthday celebrations. In addition, invitations may be passed out at school only if the entire homeroom class is being invited to a party off campus. In any other situation, invitations must be sent individually outside of the school setting.

We are gearing up for North Texas Giving Day! We have had wonderful success with NTGD in the past, and we believe that happens because we have amazing parents!

We are launching a business for our 7-9th grade students very soon. To begin with, we will sell one-pound bags of coffee and K-cups. When the weather cools, we will offer brewed coffee at our events in the evening. Students are filling out applications and they will be interviewed by the parent company. Once positions are filled, they will be trained in everything from finance to brewing coffee. The coffee is from Honduras and delicious! Stay tuned for a progress report.

You might have noticed the Free Neighborhood Library outside the front doors of the school. This was a Genius Hour project for Brock Hamby. He researched the national project and collected books.The finishing required painting and assembly. Now our students can give and take a book and the mornings around the little library outside the front doors are very busy.

With the funds raised from last year’s silent auction, we were able to purchase and implement a school wide curricula for morning meeting and advisory time. For grades K-5 we are using materials and lessons from Momentous Institute. For grades 6-8 we are using Second Step, and for 9th grade we are using School Connect. The lessons for each grade are designed to meet their needs developmentally and socially. It’s a great time to connect with the students on a daily basis and check in on their mental health.

The Glitter Ball: As part of our Social Emotional Curriculum, we use the Glitter Ball as a metaphor for emotions. When the ball is shaken, the glitter is wild, yet beautiful. You cannot see through the ball until the glitter has settled and the view is clear. This is the same thing that occurs when our emotions run high. All we see is how we feel. If we react to a situation while our glitter is unsettled, we can’t see the entire situation clearly. We must train our students to wait to react to situations by taking a step back and letting their glitter settle. It is then that they can think clearly and make more rational decisions.
