Things to keep in mind upon your students return...

• the expectation is that all students are in full uniform every day - please read below for a reminder of our uniform policy.
• Thursday, April 13, all of Mr. Kent's Film 2 students will be on a field trip to the Tech Center
• Friday, April 14, the counseling team will be hosting a Mindfulness event at the Bell campus during Lunch time 😊
• Our next Coffee with the Principal will be held on April 27 from 9-10am, hope you all can make it 😊

After being on a split campus for two years, we believe that it is in the school’s best interest to bring both campuses together to continue to further our school community. One campus will allow us to share resources. We have planned carefully, and can provide adequate classroom and yard space to allow for a safe and secure high school campus.

Thus, we are eager to announce that for that all grade levels, 9-12, will be housed on one campus at 4210 E. Gage Avenue in the City of Bell, CA, next school year. 😊

We will continue to provide bus transportation for students residing in the South Los Angeles region. We will share these details as soon as possible.

Please remind your student to ...

1. Use the restroom and drink water Before School, During Nutrition, Lunch or After School - in order to avoid loosing instructional time.
2. Make sure they are heading directly to class and avoid being tardy, loosing PBIS points and obtaining a phone call home

Please note, students NOT in uniform will not only be deducted PBIS points but will also be given detention for the day.

Food cannot be delivered to students during the school day by food delivery establishments, including but not limited to Uber Eats, Door Dash or GrubHub. Please remember that only parents and immediate family members in the computer system can deliver food to you during the school day. This is to better ensure the security of the school as well as to minimize disruptions to the school day. Food delivered to students by outside delivery companies will be confiscated and given to students at the end of the day, as they head home. If a student opens an outside door to allow an outside food delivery, or accepts food through the gate, they will face disciplinary consequences as that creates a security risk.

Did you know that all California public school students identified as low-income, as defined by the Local Control Funding Formula, enrolled in 1st through 12th grades during the 2021-2022 academic year will be automatically enrolled in CalKIDS.

Eligible low-income public school students receive a:

• $500 automatic deposit in a CalKIDS account for eligible low-income public school students
• $500 additional deposit in a CalKIDS account for eligible students identified as foster youth
• $500 additional deposit in a CalKIDS account for eligible students identified as homeless

We are currently working on finalizing our summer school plans and additional information will be shared with the families of any student required to attend summer school in May.

Do note that summer school will be required for any student who is currently credit deficient, in order to provide them with the time and space needed to complete APEX classes and get on track towards graduation. Summer school will be highly recommended for students enrolling in AP classes, entering 9th grade or formulating part of SGA (Student Government Association).

Summer school will be held the week of July 10 and July 17.

We would like to encourage any student who does not need credit recovery to take advantage of brushing up on their math skills to either get ahead or fill-in some of the gaps they may currently be struggling with.

The program is free, Westbrook High will provide transportation and ELAC (East Los Angeles College) will even provide lunch.
