Springmill STEM Family Update
April 30, 2023
Hello STEM Family!
Teacher appreciation week is celebrated May 8 - May 12th this year. While we do not have an official PTO (yet), it would be great to show support to the teachers this week. It does not mean you need to spend a bunch of money buying the teacher something, even a note of thanks from you and your student would mean so much! I can attest to the fact that teachers work VERY hard every single day, and a little token of appreciation makes it all worth it.
We have many great opportunities for students and families to participate in related to STEM. On Thursday Night, May 4th, we will be having our final family engagement activity. This will be from 5:30-7 and will be outside, weather permitting. Bring the family for food, prizes and fun! Families will have the opportunity to work together to design rockets, blow up the Death Star, and make self propelling cars. Don't miss this one!
Below are also 2 great opportunities outside of our school - a Career Awareness Fair for K-6 graders. There will be food and prizes there also. There is an opportunity for students to go to a STEAM summer camp, where students will be able to explore the many aspects of STEM education.
Students have 21 days of school left. This is a time where we see an increase in negative behaviors. The best thing you can do for teachers is to make sure you encourage your student to be respectful to the teachers by listening when they are speaking, being responsible for their work, and follow safe behavior expectations.
Finally - if you have not returned the paper asking if your student will be returning to STEM next year, please do so this week. If you did not get one, or it has been lost, you can call the office for a new one, or even just let us know over the phone.
Thank you,
Cara Will
