From the Desk of Shurandia Holden
Hello Boggess Bengals,
What an exciting week we have had at Boggess!
Thank you to the Plano East Girls basketball team for helping with morning drop off. It was wonderful to see all of you. We wish you a successful basketball season.
One if the highlights of the week was seeing all of the grandparents during the Grandparents Day Assembly this morning. We were so thankful to share this special day with you. It was wonderful to hear personal stories of how school was when you were younger. Students were shocked and tickled that you had no cell phones, computers and AC. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
A huge thank you to PTA for the beautiful decorations and the yummy breakfast!
International Dot Day is next Thursday, September 15th! Don't forget to wear your dots to school to celebrate creativity and believing in ourselves! Don't have dot outfits to wear? That's okay, feel free to be creative and decorate a t-shirt with dots to wear next Thursday!
It was spelled correctly when facing the grandparents! :)
Picture Day is Tuesday, September 20th!
You are encouraged to order on line at www.myschoopicture.com.

School Meals Information - Return of charging for Meals and application for Free & Reduced Lunches
The United States Department of Agriculture waiver that allowed Plano ISD to provide free meals to all students during the 2021-22 school year has expired. Plano ISD will resume charging for meals during the 2022-23 school year based on student eligibility for meal benefits.
Families who may qualify should complete a federal meal application for free or reduced-price meals, available through Parent Portal or via the website at www.pisd.edu/mealprogram. Click the green SchoolCafé button to begin.
Families who already have a SchoolCafé account can log in to complete the meal application. Families who do not have an account can create one by selecting that option on the main SchoolCafé page. View this SchoolCafe information video for instruction on how to complete the application.
Volunteers
We love our volunteers at Boggess. All volunteers will need to create an account and complete an application, online orientation and background check through the Plano ISD volunteer management system, VOLY, to be eligible for district/school volunteer opportunities. Please visit plano.voly.org to create a volunteer account and begin this process. These items will need to be completed by volunteers each school year.
Meet the Principal
Hello everyone,
I hope you have had a fantastic summer! At Boggess Elementary, our mission is to inspire successful life-long learners. It is my belief that the school environment should be a welcoming environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, learning is a priority for all, connections to the community are strong, and students grow both academically and socially in a safe learning environment.
I love reading, walking, shopping and taking road trips with my family. My husband and I are extremely blessed to have our daughter, her husband and our two wonderful grandchildren nearby.
I am honored to serve the Boggess community and I feel very fortunate to work with such amazing children and such a dedicated staff. I am just as excited for this school year to begin as I was 34 years ago when I first began my career in education. I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting those new to the Bengal family.
Working together I know we will make this school year one of growth, excitement, and achievement for all students.
