Last school year significant work was carried out to both understand the current state of math instruction and student performance within our system and to understand the current landscape and best practices in math instruction. This year, a leadership team of PreK-12 teachers have been engaged in learning and will be field testing two sets of instructional materials with students within our system. The two curriculum materials that are being field tested are: Illustrative Mathematics and Eureka Math² During fall conferences, all staff and parents/guardians will be able to review samples of materials and provide feedback as part of the curriculum review process. Classroom teachers have a snack time built into their daily schedule. Your student may need or want a snack each day. We encourage parents/guardians to send healthy and nutritious snacks (fruit, vegetables, crackers, popcorn, goldfish, granola bars, etc). Always check with your classroom teacher to confirm the presence of any allergies. Snacks should be packaged in single serving sizes vs bringing a large bag. *If you are unable to provide a snack for your child please reach out to the main office.

I wanted to update you on the hiring status of our school counselor. Mrs. Liz Donner will be starting on Monday, Oct. 24th, as the K - 5 counselor for the remainder of the 22-23 school year. She is excited for the opportunity to get to know the students, staff and all of you. Read her introductory letter here. I wanted to recognize Mrs. Melanie Larsen for her service as a sub counselor these past few weeks as we worked to fill the vacancy. She quickly connected with our students and staff. She will spend the day on Monday with Mrs. Donner to ensure a smooth transition. Mrs. Larsen will resume her duties as a full-time sub in our district on Tuesday, Oct. 25th.
