Principal's Message

Greetings Springwater Students and Families,

Spring break has begun! I hope everyone finds some time to relax and have fun over the next week. There will be no school next week, March 21st - 25th. We look forward to welcoming all students back on Monday, March 28th. As we look ahead to April and a return to a more normal ​spring, we are excited to have our first junior/senior prom​ in 2 years! Prom will be on Friday, April 22nd at the Troutdale House. ​​


10th graders will be visiting the Center For Advanced Learning (CAL) on April 6th. CAL is a GBSD charter school that focuses on career/technical pathways. Students can choose between 6 programs: ChangeLab (leadership and entrepreneurship), Computer Information Systems, Fab Lab (​fashion, ​art, and ​branding Lab), Digital Media and Design, Health Sciences, and Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering​. CAL/STHS students spend half of their day at CAL and the other half of their day at Springwater.


On Wednesday, April 13th our sophomores will be participating in mock interviews: an opportunity for students to practice their interviewing skills and create a resume. We partner with volunteers from throughout the community who come in to be the mock employers/interviewers. It is a wonderful experience for our students.

Future Plans After High School: I may become a tattoo artist

Grade: 9

Interests: I like drawing and painting.

Favorite subject in school: Art, because we do a lot of mixed media.

Favorite thing about STHS: How there’s few people. It’s not that big.

Future Plans After High School: My future plans are to become a doctor. I’m thinking about going to Portland State, probably.

Grade: 10

Interests: I like to play basketball and I attend church a lot.

Favorite subject in school: I’d say English. Mr. Ramsey is really nice, chill. I learn a lot of stuff every day.

Favorite thing about STHS: It’s a small community and I made really good friends here.

Future Plans After High School: To become a chef or a tattoo artist

Grade: 11

Interests: Drawing, cooking, and trampoline

Favorite subject in school: Leadership. It is fun. It keeps me on my toes and busy. I would totally recommend it.

Favorite thing about STHS: Like everyone else says, the community. Everybody is always supportive of whoever you are.

Blanket & Stuffed Animal Drive

STHS is having a blanket and stuffed animal drive from March 28th - April 15th. Items should be turned into the students advisory class or the office. Gently used or new accepted. Everything collected will be donated to Human Solutions.

National Honors Society Book Drive

The National Honors Society’s Book Drive is up and running! Donate books for grades kindergarten to 12th until April 1. All books will be donated to district libraries such as Hogan Cedars and Dexter McCarty’s. Make sure there are no missing or torn pages, stains, or loose binds.

Clothes Closet

Did you know that we have a clothes closet at STHS? If your student is in need of clothing please contact our office. We have winter and summer clothing, shoes, hygiene products, etc. If you have clothing that you would like to donate we are always accepting donations.

Campus Lunch Policy

Compliments to our 9th graders! They have been doing a great job of remaining on campus during lunchtime. As a reminder: only 10th - 12th graders have off campus lunch privileges. 9th graders are expected to remain on campus during lunch. This is due to the limited food options close to our campus and to help create stronger community within the 9th grade class.

Academic Support - In Person & VIRTUAL

Additional academic support is available at Springwater Trail High School (Virtual option also available), on Monday - Thursday from 2:30pm-3:30pm. This additional time will allow students to utilize school resources such as the library and student computers for homework, studying, reading, etc.

Transportation route home at 3:30 is available. Below is the route of the 3:30 activity bus. If you have questions regarding after school support, please call the office at 503.261.4600.

Clubs at STHS

Below is a list of clubs at STHS. Encourage your student to get involved!


Anime Club: A club for those who enjoy anime and those who want to get into anime (or comics)

Art Club: A club where anyone can learn to do art. Sketching, painting, digital, any medium of art. Meets Monday's during lunch.

Drawing Club: A club to be creative, hangout, and draw. Meets Thursday's and Friday's during lunch.

Gardening Club: A club to clean up the garden and plant food. Meets Monday's during lunch and after school.

GSA: Stands for "Gay-straight alliance" Anyone of any identity is welcome to hangout and learn about LGBTQ+ history and do fun things. Meets Fridays during lunch.

Weight Lifting Club: A club that allows students to physically training themselves to grow stronger and healthier.

Foosball Club: A club where we play foosball, can have championships, and a little awards.

Basketball Club: A club where we play basketball after school.

Robotics: A club where using lego robotics, we will design and program robots.

Collecting Cans & Bottles

The "Every Cent Counts" Scholarship was created in 2019. One $500 scholarship will be awarded to an STHS 2022 graduate (additional scholarships may be awarded depending on funds raised). The scholarship is funded through the recycling efforts of STHS students and our community.

Attention Fred Meyer Shoppers

Springwater Trail High School is enrolled in the Fred Meyer Community Rewards program! Please link your Fred Meyer rewards card with our nonprofit number MU443. Fred Meyers will donate a percentage of your purchases every quarter to our program. This will NOT affect your reward points or fuel points. Last quarter we received $106.56, every little bit helps. Report Cards Online

Parents, did you know you can access your student's progress reports and report cards online through ParentVue? To access the report card from your ParentVue account, just click on the 'report card' button on the left side. Paper report cards will be available by request only. If you have trouble logging into your ParentVue account or need to get it set up, please contact Koryna Herreid at 503-261-4600 or Herreid@gresham.k12.or.us.

Volunteering

Interested in Volunteering at STHS for the 21-22 school year?


1) Go to the district website at www.gresham.k12.or.us

2) Hover over “About Us” and click on “Volunteer Information”

3) In the left-hand menu, click on “Volunteer Application Form”

4) Fill out the online application

5) Record your volunteer badge number


Once completed, the approval process can take up to two weeks.

Springwater Attendance

If your son/daughter is going to be out for the day please call the office (503-261-4600) and let us know the reason why. Whenever the office is not notified of an absence, a call is made home via the automated calling system. If the student is going to be out more than three days, you can call the office or email your student's teachers with a request for homework. If your student is going to be out of school for extended period of time due to a vacation or some other event, please have him/her complete a Pre-arranged Absence Form. If your student needs to leave school early or arrive late due to appointments, please call the office or send a note to excuse their absence.

Electronic Flyers

Gresham-Barlow Distict has launched a new electronic flyer tool called “Peachjar.” This service allows us to “go green” and will ensure that every flier is delivered to each household. Peachjar will provide flyers directly to your computer, tablet or mobile device.
