The 2023-2024 school year is coming in hot! (Literally, we're very thankful for an air-conditioned building this week).

After a long summer of planning, our staff welcomed students back into the building on Monday. It's always incredibly gratifying to see the hallways fill up with students again after the summer break. Our teachers are working hard to set the stage for excellence over the course of the school year, and I saw a tremendous amount of genuine connections taking place between staff and students.

There is a lot going on at the start of the school year, so please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We're grateful that your student is part of OHS, and we're excited for the school year!

All 9th through 11th-grade students will be NWEA testing from August 28 - 31. Students will report to their first-hour classes for testing at 7:45 AM, and regular classes will begin at 9:15 AM.

Students attending the Tech Center will stick to the normal Tech Center schedule. The AM bus will leave OHS at 7:40 AM from the bus loop, and the PM bus will leave OHS at 11:20 AM from the main door.

Seniors do not need to report for testing but should plan on being at school for their first-period class at 9:15 a.m.

We still have a few 2021 and 2022 yearbooks available for sale. The cost of these yearbooks is $85.00 cash or check made payable to Otsego Public Schools. If you already purchased one of these books but haven't picked it up yet, please go to the office to get yours!

You can still order your last year's 2023 yearbooks. Orders close on August 31, and this deadline cannot be extended. You can order the yearbooks online at www.balfour.com, or over the phone at 1-800-225-3687. After that date, you will have to take your chances that there will be extras available when they come in later this fall.

• Tech Center classes begin on Monday!
• Tech Center students who are in the building (OHS) are expected to be in the media center during their scheduled tech center classes.

Do you like to read and talk about books? If so, then book club is for you! We will meet every 3 to 4 weeks to discuss the current book and select the upcoming book. Our first brief meeting will be Tuesday, September 29th immediately after school for about 15 minutes to get the book and plan for our first discussion. Come to Mrs. Trometter's room for the meeting.
