Dear Alternative Education Community,

Happy Black History Month!

There are a series of state tests and surveys coming up for our students to participate in. These tests are very important for our school as they provide valuable data about our students that helps us grow our programs. Please read the following testing information and reach out if you have any questions!

CAASPP/CAST testing for grades 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12

Testing for Del Amigo Students will take place the week of March 11th. 11th graders will take the CAASPP for English and Math. 12th graders will take the CAST for Science.

Venture 11th and 12th students are asked to sign up to take the CAASPP/CAST in person on Friday, March 22 or Friday April 12.

11th graders should sign up for 2 time slots and 12th graders should sign up for 1 time slot on this SIGN UP.

Venture 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will take the CAASPP/CAST in person during the week of April 8.

Students will need to be on campus Monday, April 8 - Thursday, April 11 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.

Synchronous classes will still be occurring as usual. Weekly assignments will be shortened for the week so students will be able to come in person for testing.

Physical Fitness Testing for grades 5, 7, 9

Students in grades 5, 7, and 9 are required to participate in the California Physical Fitness Test (PFT). Information was sent out via email earlier this week.

Please sign your student up for the PFT on Friday March 8 at THIS LINK.

California Healthy Kids Survey for grades 5, 7, 9, 11

Students in grades 5, 7, 9, 11 are taking the California Healthy Kids Survey in class during the month of February. We encourage all parents of students in grades 5, 7, 9, 11 to also take a parent survey as well. Please see the links below.

It is time to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid). There is a lot of money left unclaimed each year from the state and federal levels.

Wednesday February 28th 4-5 p.m. I am hosting a FAFSA workshop for parents and students that would like assistance in completing their financial aid documents. Families should bring their 2023 or 2022 submitted tax information, student social security number, and a list of family assets. These are needed to accurately fill out the information requested.

This week and next, all advisory students are discussing self-love and self-care. How is your child taking care of themselves when they are stressed or need some down time? Check out the presentation SELF LOVE/CARE.

Students looking for careers right after high school can attend the Colleges and Careers Fair at DVHS 2/15 from 3-6. Great opportunities for students looking for a pathway to a career right after high school.

Parents: Are you curious or nervous about the integration of AI into education? Come discover how students can learn to safely interact with AI models, balancing innovation and academic integrity.

NAACP will be hosting Parent Engagement Workshops for Middle Schools (2/13 & 5/2) and High Schools (2/27 & 5/16) at the District Boardrooms from 6:00-7:30 pm. Please check out the flyer here for dates.

t’s that time of year! Please see the information linked in this letter regarding middle school math advancement. We will also be hosting an in person information session on February 22 at Iron Horse Middle School at 5:00 pm. Summer School Math Advancement details are posted on the district website.

Information and Guidelines now available! This contest is open to all SRVUSD middle and high school students. The theme is “Safety First” and the deadline to submit a video is Friday, March 1, 2024, by 4:00 pm.

The GFWC Danville Women's Club is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from each of our high schools. Please encourage students to apply! Application can be found here.
