St Peter's Primary School
Friday 28 April 2023
They shall not grow old,
as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning,
we shall remember them.
Lest We Forget.
Message from the Principal
WELCOME BACK! - Welcome back to Term 2! I hope you all had a lovely break!
In Terms 2 and 3, students need to wear full winter uniform in. Please check the school website for information regarding school uniforms and our second-hand uniform shop days. All students are required to wear their full winter uniform for our school photos booked for the end of this term.
STAFFING - Mr Paul Brennan has decided to take extended leave for the remainder of the 2023 school year. Our therapy dog, Dougal will be joining Paul on leave, and we wish them both a restful and enjoyable break.
I am pleased to announce that Mrs Bianca Flamini will be stepping into the role of Assistant Principal. Bianca will remain the classroom teacher for Kindy Maroon and complete her administration duties on her other days.
ANZAC DAY REFLECTION - On Tuesday 25 April, at 8am, the RSL held an ANZAC service at Mt Lawley War Memorial. A range of representatives across many schools, cadets and service personal were present. Thank you to Mr Steve Spencer, Mrs Jo Carbone and Mr Jackson Lamb who attended the service with our Year Six students: Sam Rybarczyk,
Hamish Nielson, Elena Carbone and Stella Palmer.
On Wednesday 26 April, our Year 6 students led an ANZAC Day Reflection for our school community. Our guest speaker was Mr Mark Oksanen, who shared some of his own personal experiences serving our country. The audience was captivated by Mark’s stories and the images he shared. Thank you to the Year 6 team and Mr Oksanen for contribution to our meaningful reflection.
WHOLE SCHOOL MASS – Today, we celebrated our first whole school Mass for the term prepared by the Year 4 students and teachers. As a school community, we gathered to pray for and celebrate the gift of mothers. Mother’s Day is a special day for many in our community to reflect, acknowledge and show our appreciation and love for our mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures.
COVID-19 & THE FLU - As we approach the colder months, cold and flus become more
common. We are continuing to promote good hygiene practices at school and would
appreciate if you could also remind your child/ren to:
- Regularly and thoroughly clean their hands with either an alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
- Cover their mouth and nose with their bent elbow or a tissue when they cough or sneeze.
The symptoms of colds can be similar to the symptoms of COVID-19. If you have any of the COVID symptoms listed below, however mild, or are a close contact to a positive case, you need to test immediately.
Common symptoms that COVID-19 and flu share include:
- Fever or feeling feverish/having chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue (tiredness)
- Sore throat
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Muscle pain or body aches
- Headache
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea (more frequent in children with flu, but can occur in any age with COVID-19)
- Change in or loss of taste or smell, although this is more frequent with COVID-19.
Please keep your child/ren at home if they are feeling unwell or test positive to COVID-19. We thank you for your support!
INTERSCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL - On Friday 5 May,
St Peter’s Primary School will be competing in the Interschool Swimming Carnival at HBF Stadium. We wish all the students representing St Peter’s all the best in their individual events and are excited to see you represent our school with pride.
Thank you to Mrs Alison Perrin and other St Peter’s staff members for your presence at before school swimming training to support our students in their preparation.
CANTEEN SURVEY - Thank you to Olyvia Browne and Nicole Murray-Pinel for the outstanding job they do in our Canteen! They are committed to creating a menu that is affordable, with a high nutritional value.
We are currently conducting a review of our school canteen menu. We would like to make informed decisions regarding our school canteen and have put together a survey to help us ensure we can provide the best possible service to our community. We invite parents to click the survey link below to provide their feedback.

RECONCILIATION PARENT / CHILD WORKSHOP - On Wednesday night, Mario Borg from 24/7 Ministry ran an informative and engaging workshop for those who are receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation this year. The workshop aimed to break open the key elements that make forgiveness possible and provided clues as to how to bring true peace and harmony to each of our relationships. We are extremely fortunate to have Mario and 24/7 Ministry work so closely with us at St Peter’s.
RECONCILIATION RETREAT - The Year Three students participated in a fun-filled and engaging retreat with 24/7 Ministry today. The Reconciliation Retreat looks at how God wants to draw us close to Him through offering us His love and forgiveness. The retreat was jam packed full of meaningful and engaging activities that specifically caters for young minds in order to support and navigate them through their faith journey.

The Basketball and Netball Committee have joined to create an association so that St Peter's can continue to have sports teams at the school. We will need more members for this to succeed and are seeking anyone that is interested in becoming the STP Sports Association Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President.
Aside from these roles, we still would need extra members and everyone is welcome.
