Message from the Principal
Dear Virginia Lake Families,
I hope you are enjoying your long weekend! A friendly reminder that we do not have school on Monday and Tuesday of this week. We look forward to seeing all of our students on Wednesday.
A special thank you to all of our families for your flexibility and understanding with the shift to a half day last Wednesday. Our staff had the opportunity to engage in a professional development session around social and emotional learning and behavior. We collaborated on our plan on how to create consistent behavior expectations and discussed proactive approaches to supporting our students. The feedback from staff was very positive from our session.
Virginia Lake will be highlighting “ Dazzling Dolphins” beginning this month. Students who are caught doing something extraordinary at school will earn a dolphin key chain and the opportunity to earn lunch or time playing Mario Kart with the administrative team. This special award will be for going above and beyond being respectful, responsible, and safe. We will be sharing the good news with families by calling home when students earn the award. Students can go above and beyond the expectations in several ways. A few examples include helping others, spreading kindness, and being a leader in a positive way. We can’t wait to call you to share the good news!
Let’s make it a great week!
Warmest Regards,
Patti Van Winkle, Principal

The Safety Poster and Essay Contest asks students to take on an advocacy role and communicate the importance of safety near the tracks.
