2nd Grade Jackie Robinson Cultural Arts Program
On Friday, storyteller and actor John Doyle presented Jackie Robinson - More Than Just a Baseball Player for our 2nd grade students. The students loved getting to participate in Mr. Doyle's portrayal of Jackie Robinson as they learned more about this legendary historical figure's life.
Thank you PTA for bringing another amazing Cultural Arts program to the students of Brookwood Elementary School!
Brookwood Elementary Hosts GCPS Superintendent
On Wednesday, Brookwood Elementary had the absolute pleasure of hosting Dr. Calvin Watts, the Superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools, at our school today! He took time to visit classrooms, meet our amazing students, and talk to members of our hardworking staff. Dr. Watts also visited the Woot Woot Wagon, a staff snack bar and community skills project.
A huge thanks to Dr. Watts for visiting Brookwood Elementary School and letting us show what makes our school a special place to learn and work.
5th and 3rd Grade Students Learn about Gwinnett Water
The Gwinnett Department of Water Resources came to visit us twice in January with their Water on Wheels program.
First, they presented Runoff Researchers to 3rd grade students. They discovered how water moves through watersheds as it makes its way to our lakes, rivers, and streams. They also learned how water can pick up and carry pollutants from many sources as it travels, and discussed ways to keep our water and local habitats clean.
Second, they presented Sewer Sleuths to 5th grade students. They learned about wastewater pipes by investigating what causes sewer spills in our community. They became wastewater detectives, investigating different stations to learn that wipes, fats, oils, and grease are the main causes of sewer spills.
We look forward to having them back in April for our 2nd graders!
Lego Robot Spring Training
To prepare for the 2024 - 2025 Brookwood Elementary School Robotics Team, Mrs. Colliver is offering a Spring Training for 3rd and 4th grade students.
