The Daily Eagle: Family Newsletter
Giving you CCSD updates to keep you soaring high!
April 2022
From the Administration
Hello, Families!
We are knee-deep in SBAC testing and the students are working hard and focusing all of their knowledge and energy to soar high on their tests. Please make sure they are going to bed a t decent time and charging up their Chromebooks so they don't have to worry about the little things.
We are excited to announce additional mental and physical health services available for all students at Conners! Students now have access to mental health counseling sessions as well as access to on-demand doctors visits through our partner, Hazel Health. Hazel was built for schools and is FERPA/HIPAA compliant and a trusted leader for K-12 telehealth.
Students will need a signed consent form to access this service. Parents: Please sign our Student Health form: my.hazel.co/ccsd You'll also see a paper copy of this consent form in your child's backpack today. If completing the paper consent form, simply return it to the front office or your child's teacher.
How does it work?
Students have access to virtual counseling sessions from the school counseling office. When a child is struggling with their emotions, Hazel can provide immediate assessments and screenings, counseling, and education and navigation to additional resources and care. A Hazel therapist can work with your child for depression, anxiety, bullying, peer relationships, and more.
Students also have access to virtual doctor visits right from school. With your permission, Hazel Health doctors can evaluate your child’s symptoms and provide the appropriate type of treatment. After a Hazel visit, 90% of students return to class feeling better. Hazel provides students with fast and high-quality care so there is no need for parents to leave work to pick up their child early or drop off medicine at school.
We ask that all parents sign the form at this link immediately to be prepared for student health this year: my.hazel.co/ccsd
Stay excellent!
Dr. Marentic and Ms. Marinac

Summer Acceleration Program: Camp Conners
Summer Acceleration Program at Conners ES
Summer learning opportunities will be provided for all Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 students who are currently enrolled in the District. The goal of this program is to provide additional time for students to accelerate learning, engage with peers and adult educators, and improve social-emotional wellbeing.
Summer Acceleration will be Tuesday, May 31 through Friday, June 17, 2022 excluding Tuesday, June 14 for Election Day. This will be a full school day with student arrival and dismissal times remaining the same as our normal school day, 9:00 am-3:21 pm.
At this time, we are asking that you fill out the survey below to indicate your preference for this program. The program is voluntary and will be done completely in person. There is no online learning option for Summer Acceleration. A survey must be submitted for each Conners student that wishes to attend.
This survey will close on Friday, April 1. We will use this information to help us ensure that we have appropriate staffing for this program. Any requests to attend after this date will be placed on a waitlist and will be honored based on building capacity limits and staff/student ratio availability.
