NOVEMBER 22, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
Hello Northpoint Families!
Before Thanksgiving week, I really took an intentional pause to think about all the things I am thankful for right now. One of those things is partnerships we have been building over the first three months of school. I truly appreciate all the positive shout outs for our staff, productive feedback on how we can continue to improve and the relationships that have been built, especially for me as a new member of this community.
As we wrap up this short week, please remember there is no school tomorrow, Thursday, November 23 or Friday, November 24.
Thank you for sharing ideas through the pulse check last week! So far, we’ve heard from 277 of you during the course of this year. During this round, 95 percent of those who responded are happy or mostly happy with Northpoint. This week, some of themes of praise, appreciation, and feedback or questions were:
Praise for Power Hour
Praise for staff creating a welcoming environment in the morning
Feedback about lunch periods
Questions about multiage education
Since the last round of feedback, I have connected with many families either via the phone or in person regarding questions or concerns. We will continue to take all of your feedback and ideas into consideration for our future planning and follow-up with families as needed.
Following Thanksgiving weekend, we return for the last week of the trimester. We wrap up the trimester on November 30. Please note that there is no school Friday, December 1 or Monday December 4. Teachers will be doing assessment and reporting work and engaging in professional learning and design before the second trimester begins on December 5.
We’ll see everyone back at school for the final days of trimester on Monday, November 27. Have a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving break.

Live music at Northpoint!
Northpoint's music teacher, Raye Roettger-Limp, invited guest musicians, e(L)ement, to perform for our multiage 1/2 students recently. The harp and flute (and piccolo) duo also shared with students the many different sounds their instruments can make using different techniques. It was a great learning and entertaining opportunity for all.
Thankful poster
Ambitious, Inclusive, Organized and Enthusiastic - these aren't just words on a poster; they're the incredible qualities Theresa Phillippo celebrates in each of her students. Every November she hangs the poster in her classroom where it remains the rest of the year as a reminder to her students that she is thankful for them and the qualities they have that make a positive impact on the classroom.
Pathways program connects students with jobs
Julian Christensen and Trevon Holeman started their senior year unsure how to get a job and gain experience within the career path they want to pursue after graduation - mechanics. After understanding and taking advantage of the resources available to them through the Spring Lake Park High School Career and College office, both students now have a part-time job at Heartland Tire, an auto repair shop across the street from the high school.
Through this part-time job, as well as classes they are taking in their high school, Julian and Trevon are gaining real-world, hands-on experience that is setting them up for success once they graduate next spring.
We recently caught up with Julian and Trevon to learn more about their experiences and their plans for the future.
