LOVE | LEARN | LEAD
September 4, 2023
Greetings Shenandoah Valley Families,
Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers and card for my birthday! The staff and students surprised me on the playground with signs and sang me Happy Birthday! They are all so sweet and sure made me feel special!
I wanted to let you know about something new and exciting we are doing this school year. In the past, we have had a curriculum night, and it was not well attended. As our new PTO has created the mission to engage our community intentionally and inclusively, we would like to join this mission and provide an opportunity for you to actively engage with your child(ren) at an event called the Learning Lab Open House. As a building, we are continuing to look for ways for our students to positively lead. Your child(ren) will have the opportunity to lead you around the building and show you what they engage in throughout the day. There will be a menu of options as we get closer to the date: October 3 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. You may find this date to be later than usual, however, since this is something new, it will take some time for our staff and students to prepare. As this is an open house event, you may come and go as you please during this hour. There will not be presentations but activities throughout the building. Thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility as we work through the details and continue to grow this event each year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Terri Politte
Principal | Shenandoah Valley Elementary

- A Parkway visitor is an individual in a school for a limited period of time who does not have the opportunity to be alone with a student. Parkway Visitors do not need to go through the background check process.
- Volunteers may complete the App Garden (Parkway volunteer tracking software). Use this link to start App Garden Application
- It can take volunteers anywhere from 4-6 weeks to be approved so please do not delay if you plan to assist in the coming months. We suggest applying at the beginning of the year.
