Halloween
COSTUME RULES
Monday the 31st during the day,
we can wear something fun,
But there are a few rules
about how it is done.
Kids have nightmares,
and that can be rough...
So no blood, and no gore,
and no creepy stuff!
You may wear something
silly or stylish or fancy.
You may dress like your pet
or your cousin named Nancy.
You may wear your costume,
a crown or a hat.
Don’t bring weapons,
props or extras like that!
We must see your face
to get your name right,
So save your face paint and mask
for Halloween night.
We still have to learn,
and we still have to play;
So make sure you wear something
you can work and play in that day!
Inclement Weather
Extreme cold, severe rain or snow, lightning, freezing rain, and poor air quality are all types of inclement weather that can keep students inside before school and during recesses. Please help your children dress appropriately for being outside during the various seasons. We recognize that students learn better when they have opportunities to go outside for recess. The decision to bring students inside because of unsafe weather will be made by the principal or assistant principal. The safety of our students will be the deciding factor in the event of inclement weather. Specific recommendations are given for poor air quality, lightning and cold temperatures.

St. Luke’s Children’s is partnering with schools in the valley to help families’ access influenza vaccine for their children attending school. You can find information and the required forms to complete in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Swahili. Students must return forms by October 10th.

Picture Day Information
Individual student photos were taken on September 26th. If you have not already ordered school pictures, there is still time.
The most efficient and cost-friendly way to order is to visit mydorian.com, search for your school, click the green Order button that corresponds with your school picture day and place your order. This option is available for up to four (4) days after picture day.
Did you miss picture day or want to retake your picture?
Find your school’s retake day date and order information on mydorian.com by searching for your school. A student wishing to have their picture retaken should bring their original package back to school and return it to the photographer on retake picture day.
Digital downloads are delivered based on how you ordered.
If you ordered an image download online, you will receive an email with access to your image once it is ready. If you ordered with an envelope, you will receive your download instructions when packages are distributed at the school.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Waking your child up at the same time each day, with plenty of time to get ready, can decrease students' worries or stress about going to school. It is also helpful to give clear and kind messages to your child, such as, "School is important, so we can't let you stay home."
If your child seems anxious about going to school, please let your child's teacher or our school counselor, Ms. Zarak, know. There are things our team at Whitney can do to help them feel more comfortable and excited about coming to school and learning.
