The Board of Education Wants to Hear From You!
As part of the District's new strategic plan, Community Engagement and Communication is one of the priority areas. The Board has launched a monthly ThoughtExchange during each board meeting to ask stakeholders to share their thoughts on a given topic. The Board will review the results during their monthly Board study sessions to help guide the planning and the work of the District with your voice at the table. This month the topic is on SAFETY. This will help gather input on how the District can address safety measures in schools.
Please take the time to share your thoughts on ThoughtExchange on this month's topics:
What are some suggestions for addressing your safety concerns at school?
The following items were shared with the Board of Education for information. Please see the listed agenda items below.
- MSBA Board Report - The Board watched the monthly video update from Missouri School Boards Association.
- Internship Update from the Special Assistant to the Superintendent.
- ThoughtExchange Survey Results from the October Board Meeting:
- During the October 12 Board meeting, the following questions were asked: What are some of your thoughts on facilities in the FFSD? What improvements would you like to see?
- 255 participants generated 328 thoughts and gave 10,947 star ratings
- Many of the top thoughts focused on the following:
- The STEAM schools are in better condition than the other schools - This could be due to the fact that these are the newest buildings in the District.
- Teachers should be able to control the temperature in their classrooms and the rooms are often too warm or too cold.
- The appearance and cleanliness of our facilities.
- Additional support staff is needed to maintain and clean the buildings.
The complete list of thoughts shared in the exchange has been shared with the operations and maintenance departments. Many of the concerns have been addressed. Some of the concerns involved significant costs, and a long term facilities plan and budget are being developed to address those issues.
