CANDICE COKE, CLASS OF 1994
After Graduating early from Long Beach HS, Candice Coke found herself exploring the Artists lifestyle for 6 months before attending NYU on a springboard diving scholarship and majoring in Educational Theatre. During her college years she worked as a Knicks City Dancer, where her love for performance and the entertainment industry grew more passionate. Three years into school Candice was offered the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform with Michael Jackson, which launched her into a dance career that changed the trajectory of her journey. She went on to work with Prince, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, The Notorious BIG and the Bad Boy Family just to name a few, and soon after crossed over to the screen where she was a part of some of the most Iconic commercials for IPOD and The Gap. At that point she became Bi-Coastal going back and forth from NY to LA where commercials turned into independent films, and interesting small parts on TV. In 2006 she decided to take a leap of faith and move to LA and dive in *pun intended!
With a fresh start in Los Angeles, she jumped into acting classes, created another supportive artistic family and became an ongoing volunteer with the Art of Elysium, where she continues to use her crafts to go into children's hospitals and inner city housing to give back to the community as best she can.
Through years of perseverance and time she's managed to curate a career and lifestyle just through Acting and Voice Overs. You may have seen her in the opening scene in LA LA LAND, but one of her most recent successes was starring in AMC's Television series, Kevin Can F Himself with Annie Murphy, was the voice of Comcast for almost two years and recently cameoed in the Horror film Malum. Although she has been living in LA for seventeen years now, a part of her always envisions coming back to the east coast, where her heart has always been. She's a New York city girl through and through, with the seeds of Long Beach in her soul.
When she looks back to when it all started, she can't deny that Long Beach's own Mr. Kennedy was the match that sparked her fire for the Arts. Long Beach will always be a special place. All the memories, friendships, teachers, and stories are what made her who she is. Candice is not done yet...Let's see what the future holds!
