A Message from our Magic Netball Team
"AIMS games was cancelled so instead we got to go to Masterton and Palmerston North for a mini netball tournament against Masterton Intermediate and Roslyn School. We left school on Wednesday and had a fun & long car ride to Masterton. There was lots of singing and practicing our waiata. We stopped at Kowhai park in Wanganui on the way for a play in the water. We were so excited when we arrived at our Hotel, we discovered an indoor pool and an outdoor pool so got into our togs straight away. After a swim we had dinner and went to check out the netball courts we were going to play at the next day to get prepared."
Tarli Wilson, Kauri 3
"When we arrived at Masterton Intermediate on Thursday morning, three girls came and introduced themselves to us and made us feel very welcome. Then they started their karanga and welcomed us onto the School grounds. Then we went into the hall and the kapa haka preformed for us. Their kapa haka was fantastic and we were blown away. We were paired up with a buddy from their school and they showed us around. We got to do a hip hop / team building class which was so fun. We had some healthy kai before leaving on the bus with them to the netball courts. The bus ride was fun but loud with lots of singing."
Harper, Kauri 3
"We arrived at the netball courts and Mr Walker took us for a warm up. We had some vibey music during the warm up to get us pumped. The first game was up against MIS Tahi and they were a good challenge for us and took the win. Our second game was against MIS Rua it was a very tight game but again MIS took the win after a competitive game. There was yummy kai and tiktok dancing together after the games. We all did a big group dance on the steps. We had a player of the game presentation and MIS presented two of our players with a netball. I was lucky enough to receive one of the netballs and Areiana received the other one. Thank you to everyone that helped us with our fundraising and made this trip happen. Today we are heading to Palmerston North for our final game."

Mitre 10 is EPIC!
Our Home & School sent in a submission for the Mitre 10 Helping Hands Project Playground programme. There were over 500 schools that put in a submission – almost half the primary schools in Aotearoa. And we have awesome news for our community.
While we did not get in the top three schools, who gain a brand new playground, they were so impressed by the application written by Eleanor Connole from the Home & School, they have gifted our school a $10,000 Mitre 10 Gift Card to help us make improvements to our existing playgrounds.
Thank you so much to our awesome Home & School and we are looking forward to putting this to good use for our playgrounds.

Staff vs students - Netball
The Magic netball team got off to a hot start and led the staff 9 - 1 but the Pedagogy Panthers knew the girls would come out strong due to their experience of playing alongside one another.
Later in the game the Panthers were able to take a commanding lead for most of the second half. Nonetheless, you should never count teams out until the final whistle!
Magic clawed their way back into the game to draw level.
In the dying seconds of the game Matua Ngatai had a chance to secure a late victory for the staff... but his shot fell short with the final score being 18 all!
Well done girls on your efforts and all the best for your Netball Tour. Pedagogy Panthers are now playing the Championship winning Penguins basketball team on Friday!
Will the boys be able to secure a victory against the staff?

This year we were lucky enough to receive some PC's and laptops from Methanex but we still need a few more so that we can run our classes effectively.
