Reminder: Stay Home If You're Sick
Several confirmed COVID-19 cases in the D41 community
Dear Families,
The district has recently been notified of several confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in the District 41 community. This is a reminder for all families to follow the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for helping to stop the spread. This is the only way we will be able to open our schools and keep them open. It takes all of us to keep our community safe.
With our shift to blended happening very soon for our youngest learners, we ask all of you to make compliance with isolation and quarantine requirements a very high priority.
Click here for the CDC resource about what to do if you are sick or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, you will find all of the healthy and safety guidelines in the revised Reopening Plan.
Exclusion Criteria Reminder
In order to keep schools open for in-person learning, it is critical that students stay home if they don’t feel well or are experiencing ANY COVID-19 symptoms.
Students will be sent home or denied entry to school if they have any one of the following symptoms (Source: IDPH):
-Fever greater than 100.4 F
-New onset of moderate to severe headache
-Shortness of breath
-New cough
-Sore throat
-Vomiting
-Diarrhea
-Abdominal pain from unknown cause
-New congestion/runny nose
-New loss of taste or smell
-Nausea
-Fatigue from unknown cause
-Muscle/body aches
In addition, if your child has been in close contact (within 6 feet for 15 continuous minutes) with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, do not send your child to school. Please notify your school health office and call your healthcare provider and/or the DuPage County Health Department for guidance at 312-777-1999. Close contacts need to quarantine for 14 days. A negative covid test does not cancel out the required quarantine.
When in-person learning is in session, schools will notify families and staff of any positive cases in a school and will directly contact any individuals who were in close contact with someone who tested positive.
Thank you for your attention to this information.
