St. Luke Weekly SMORE
January 6, 2023
Leadership Message
Happy New Year, and all the best to our St.Luke families for 2023! With January comes a new season of reflection, planning, and learning. Through December we had the anticipation of Advent, the celebration of Christmas, and now the “opening” of the gift of Christmas through the Feast of the Epiphany today, January 6th. Epiphany allows us to revel in the birth of Jesus a little longer, reflecting on his human presence in our world. Soon we will enter back into Ordinary Time, and the remaining five months of the year will be busy ones.
A heartfelt thank you for your generous support during Advent for helping those families in need within our own community. It speaks volumes to the special people that make up the family of St. Luke.
We look forward to a wonderful year ahead!
A New Year Prayer
Holy Father, God of our yesterdays, our today, and our tomorrows.
We praise You for Your unequaled greatness.
Thank You for the year behind us and for the year ahead.
Help us in Your new year, Father, to fret less and laugh more.
To teach our children to laugh by laughing with them.
To teach others to love by loving them. Knowing, when Love came to the stable in Bethlehem, He came for us. So that Love could be with us, and we could know You.
That we could share Love with others.
Help us, Father, to hear Your love song at every sunrise, in the stories of our old folks, and the fantasies of our children.
We pray for peace, for light, and for hope, that we might spread them to others.
We accept Your gift of a new year and we rejoice in what's ahead, depending on You to help us do exactly what You want.
Amen.
Abundant blessings for 2023,
Cathy Hinger
