Below are the Rock Stars of the Month from May! Rock Stars of the Month are nominated by teachers at RHS and then selected from a committee. These students worked hard, played hard, and owned it in the month of May. Students received a certificate and a personalized T-shirt! Please tell them congratulations if you see them in person!

Every Rock Star of the Month from this school year was honored on May 26th at an ice cream social! Students enjoyed an ice cream sundae and some time to play games, listen to music, and have good conversations! Congrats to all that were honored this school year. Thanks for working hard, playing hard, and owning it!

After learning about different types of cakes, making frosting and learning piping skills, students in the RHS Baking class chose cake and frosting recipes they wanted to make as part of their final exam. After tasting all 18 cakes, judges found the following to be the top three overall cakes. Congratulations to these winners and to everyone in the class. You did a fantastic job!

Following the successful opening weekend of the Rockville High School Musical Theater Company’s “Wizard of Oz,” the cast and crew were notified that they have been nominated for 12 Halo Awards. The Halo awards are run by the Seven Angels Theater company and is the national high school equivalent to the Broadway “Tony” awards. On Wednesday, May 31st, members of the cast and crew traveled to the Palace Theater in Waterbury Connecticut for the award ceremony. Congratulations to the cast, crew and musical staff for achieving these great honors in their first year of production!

On the evening of May 25th RHS was buzzing with creativity and musical talents! The event showcased RHS students within the Art, Music, Tech, English and World Language departments. It was a wonderful celebration of visual and performing arts and our talented students!

On May 18th we honored 159 students in grades 9-11. Congratulations to these amazing scholars and keep it up!

On May 26th Rockville High School Student Council and the American Red Cross hosted a blood drive at RHS. Thank you to everyone who donated life-saving blood and to those who made this event possible.

ABL students attend their Prom at Bloomfield High! They had an amazing time dancing and socializing!

Nursery program preschool students celebrated their year on May 18th. Families, childhood education and child development students attended to cheer on the graduates. If you are interested in working with young children and want to know more about the early childhood pathway cluster, please see Mrs. Piscottano in room 126

Allied Health 2 spent the day at Hartford Hospital’s Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation. They got to try their hand at robotic surgery and visit the LifeStar helipad.

Four RHS Creative Writers were selected to read at UCONN's Jorgensen Auditorium for the CT Student Writer Recognition night. We swept the top awards and were the only high school in the state to receive this incredible honor.

Tovah Oslovich's poetry books were published and have arrived at RHS. RHS has a published author! Tovah was the winner of the Poetry Out Loud Chapbook Contest.

Congratulations to Gabby McKayle and Tovah Oslovich who have been selected as guest playwrights in the 2023 Eugene O'Neill Young Playwriting Competition.
During the Young Playwrights Festival, student playwrights will spend two days working collaboratively with a professional creative team consisting of a director, dramaturg, and actors to explore, revise, and develop their plays, bringing their written words to life.

On May 1, the 19th Annual Michael’s Jewelers’ Unified Sports® Cup Awards Banquet honoring students who participate in the Special Olympics Unified Sports® program presented by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) and Special Olympics Connecticut was recently held at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville. Rockville High was pleased to acknowledge Peyton Harrigan (Unified mentor) and Shawn Souer (Athlete) at the event. Peyton was a great asset to the Unified program and we were so glad to see his growth over the years. We wish him luck next year as he is attending University of New Haven. Shawn Souer has been an active participant in all activities of the Unified program. Both are great examples of how Inclusion works. A great evening of inclusion and comradery was had by all. A great keynote and Inspirational speaker in Special Olympics Global Messenger Robin Batchelder.

Senior Troy Balsewicz created a "LIVING WALL" in the world language hallway. This wall will continue to grow and bring life to our school in the upcoming years!

We need your Dell Computers and Chargers back BEFORE Graduation Rehearsal. Please return them as soon as you are done with exams. You can not receive your cap and gown unless all accountabilities are taken care of.

It's June! Which means books that have not been returned are OVERDUE! Please return them as soon as possible to avoid receiving a book bill!

Congrats to our graduating Senior athletes! We will miss you next year and hope that you continue to "Play Hard" at your sport!

• Softball, baseball, boys volleyball, girls tennis, and track athletes qualified for the state tournament.

• Softball, baseball, and boys volleyball qualified for the conference tournament. Baseball and boys volleyball advanced to the finals and earned runner up.
• Outdoor track and field won the conference for the boys and girls for the second straight year.
• Morgan Fischer and Abby Aggarwala won the doubles #1 conference tournament.
• 29 student athletes earned all conference honors this season.
