Happy February
Dear Rainier Families,
We are approaching the halfway mark of the 21-22 school year. As we enter Semester 2 on Thursday, it's a great time refresh your student's school supplies and ensure there is a spare set of clothes on hand regardless of the age of your student(s).
Special February Events
Most teachers plan to have Valentine's Day celebrations. Please be on the lookout for party news from your child's teachers. If you need assistance purchasing Valentine cards for your child, please reach out to office.
We excited to announce other fun events coming up this month. Please review these special days in our newsletter below.
Calling the Office
Our phone system has been experiencing issues. If we are unable to answer, we ask that you connect with our office via email please. We are more likely to get to you with quicker service via emails.

Pick Up Reminders
1. Please arrive to the parking lot by 2:10 each day for pick up.
2. Please step out of your vehicle and stand where our staff can see you. If you make a sign with your child's name on it, that would be even better. This will help us to ensure a quick and smooth dismissal. Once staff sees you outside of your vehicle, they will walk your students to you in the parking lot.
This will help ensure that we keep everyone safe in the parking lot.
Proper Clothing
Please ensure your child leaves the house with a warm coat every morning. We typically receive lots of snow and frozen temperatures during February in Ashford. We want all students to be prepared for the elements. Please let our office know if you need help getting a warm winter coat for your child.
Have a wonderful February.
With gratitude,

Student Council News
During this “Happy Heart’s Month”, the Student Council would like to thank everyone at CCA for opening their hearts and donating brownie mixes for the Christmas baskets at the Family Agency. To say we made a positive impact is an understatement. Three classes earned brownie treats to enjoy because of their extraordinary amount of donations.
Students enjoyed the coloring contest which exemplified this year’s theme of sticking together. Stay tuned for another opportunity to be artistic this spring.
There will be more Accelerated Reader Reward events soon. Read! Read! Read!
Sincerely,
Lucy Fountain, Student Council Advisor
Highly Capable Program Highlight
January Highlight
During first session this month for middle school, we started by talking about our goals for the new year and the fun we had over winter break. We completed a water Lego engineering challenge and students’ creativity came out. We also had a creative outlet by creating entries for the local library creativity showcase. Students had time to work on their passion projects. We learned about salmon and their value in preparation for our salmon toss trip. The salmon toss at Pack Forest was the highlight of middle school’s second session of the month. For the last part of the day, students created a pitch and poster for their passion project that they will share with peers next month.
Elementary had one session this month. They were also able to participate in a salmon toss at Smallwood Park, Pack Forest, and the bridge at Bud Blancher trail! Our afternoon was spent doing the Lego water challenge, creating goals for the new year and starting our passion project. It will be exciting to see what they create and learn in the coming weeks!
