Lambs Ledger
December 2023
Message from the Principal, Jamie McCarthy
Our teachers have been working diligently everyday to ensure that our students are interacting with outstanding instruction. Please help us by having your child to school on time and prepared for learning. Each day your student is not present, it creates an additional challenge. You cannot replace in person instruction.
During the break, you will see a construction fence and some trees taken down. Construction will begin as we prep for some demolition and the addition of trailers at the end of this school year. This should not interfere with the current operation of our school. We are appreciative that this project is getting underway! 2027 seems like a long time away, but I'm sure it will fly by!
I hope that all of you are able to enjoy this holiday season with your family and loved ones. I look forward to welcoming everyone back January 3rd with a refreshed focus and energy as we gear up for the most impactful part of the school year!

December Special Area at Lambs
PE with Coach Wilber:
CD/K--we have been working on learning about exercises that help improve our November muscle of the month, the hamstring muscle, and learn about a new muscle of the month. We also started ball catching and tossing activities with ourselves and a partner. We will continue these types of activities till winter break.
1st/2nd/3rd--we have been learning about different throwing and catching games as well as various tag games to work on teamwork & sportsmanship. This month we are learning how to play four square with the goal of trying to play a four square tournament closer to winter break or when we return in January.
4th/5th--We will be starting working with the flag football equipment using the flags to play different tag games and then having the ultimate goal of playing a game called "Touchdown" to incorporate the skills we learned, to play a modified game of flag football for the next few weeks while attempting to earn PE choice days. (Classes will have to follow the Lambs Traits in order to earn these days in January when we return.)
As always if you have any questions or need further clarifications please don't hesitate to reach out or send a message. Please double check your child's PE day so your child has the proper footwear so that they can be successful in PE class!! Have a great holiday season and let's finish 2023 strong and healthy!!
Music with Ms. Martin: Thursday, December 7th at 5:00pm, Kindergarten, First grade, and Second grade will be presenting our Winter Program for the PTA. We are very excited and look forward to performing for you!
The program will include songs, poems, and a visit from special guests.
Third, Fourth, and Fifth grades will be singing and learning about winter celebrations from around the world. We are also working on a variety of tempo and cooperative group activities about composers and instruments.
All classes will be celebrating in December their earned points for Fun Day in music.
Art with Ms. Bowers: The holidays have been a busy but exciting time in the art room! Students have been learning new art techniques, such as printmaking and wax resist, and are learning about new artists like Wayne Thiebaud and Jen Stark. Students have also been learning the importance of celebrating Native American History Month during November and have completed projects to honor Native Americans and their culture, traditions, and beliefs. One of these projects can be seen in the
hallway outside of the art room! First grade students were read Lizard and the Painted Rock by
Elizabeth Lane and were then tasked to tell their own stories using the same symbols Native
Americans used in their rock paintings. Now that November is coming to a close and December
is right around the corner, students are shifting their focus onto their upcoming performance.
First graders are hard at work transforming themselves into reindeer, with the help of some
scissors and staples of course, and second graders are learning about symmetry by making
snowflakes!
