Cafeteria Star
Johnny, a UAMS student, helps daily in the school cafeteria. He organizes and loads trays so they can be washed, sweeps the floors, and fills the utensil bins. Thank you Johnny for all your hard work!
Work Experience at BHS
This year Mr. Strine's students, along with the help of Transition Coordinator, Ms.Crowder, are operating the Faculty Room Vending Machine at Biglerville High School. To start off the new work experience, the students took a trip to Sam's Club to purchase items needed for the vending machine. Now on a weekly basis, students check the inventory of the items, restock items as needed, make a list of items that need to be purchased to restock, count the money that is in the machine, check expiration dates, and many other activities. This is a great "real life" experience that has allowed the students to put to practice many new skills that the students have learned in the classroom. The teachers also love the "new" items that have made it into the vending machine.
Lasagna Time!
Mrs. Haines' students utilized their new kitchen appliances this week to make lasagna. The students worked together, each completing their given task and learning valuable culinary skills as well. The end result looks delicious!

Menus Lead to Smiles
Students in Mrs. Nagode's classroom, led by Mrs. Jessica Yourishin, worked through a lesson on everyday menus, both in restaurants and online. Students used the menus to complete activities that included identifying the cost of items, budgeting, knowing how much money is needed and how much change would be received. During the budgeting activity, students were given a budget of $3.00 and asked to choose items from the lunch/dinner menu of a well-known fast-food restaurant. The students' selections were given to Secret Santa, Ms. Dee Crowder. Ms. Dee Crowder, the district transition coordinator, graciously surprised the students with their selections for lunch on December 21st. The surprise left the students smiling from ear to ear! The students are currently working on composing a letter of appreciation for Ms. Dee Crowder.
Smoothie Time
Mr. Strine's students, with the help of Mrs. Kime, made smoothies. The class made both Strawberry Orange and Blueberry Mango smoothies. After taste testing, the Strawberry Orange was the classroom favorite.
