CCR Nursing Fieldtrip
The college and career center collaborated with the Medical Services, Pre-Nursing pathway students for the Intro to Nursing field trip hosted by Kentucky State University and CHI St. Joseph Health for Fayette County Public Schools students! CHI St. Joe presented information on current scholarship programs and opportunities in partnership with Kentucky State. Current Nursing majors allowed students to gain hands-on experience in simulation labs, and students were able to see a glimpse of life as a college student on the Hill. Thank you to the School of Nursing for this annual experience!
COUNSELING SECTION
Attention Juniors: Apply for the Governor's Scholars Program now!
The 2023 program will be held on the campuses of Centre College in Danville, and Morehead State University in Morehead, and Murray State University in Murray. Governor's Scholars are selected from across Kentucky and represent the diversity of the Commonwealth.
There are no grades or credits. The program is singularly free from competition, creating an environment that is conducive to building a community of friends and colleagues.
The program offers Scholars a chance to know and make friends with other enthusiastic, energetic students with high intellectual capacities. The give-and-take among Scholars from different backgrounds is one of the most treasured aspects of the program.

STAFF SHOUTOUTS
Mrs. Lexi Humphries
Mrs. Humphries is in her sixth year of teaching, but she is in her first year at Station. She is teaching freshman health, and she has jumped all in as a contributing member to the Freshman Academy. Her classroom is a very dynamic place where students are engaged, and actively learning about all things related to health. Mrs. Humphries continues to search for innovative ways to engage all of our students in the classroom. Lexi comes to Station via Michigan to be with her new husband, who is a football coach at the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Humphries is an assistant coach on volleyball at Station this season. Welcome to Station Mrs. Humphries!
Dr. Emily Warren
Dr. Warren is an English teacher in the Medical Academy at Station. Additionally, Dr. Warren is the Academic Lead for the Medical Academy, English Department Chair, and the chair of the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Committee. Last year, Dr. Warren worked with other teacher leaders at Station to plan our school-based professional learning for the start of the 23-24 school year. Her classroom reflects rigor, relevance, student engagement, and high yield instructional strategies. Emily believes all students can achieve at high levels, and her commitment to collective teacher efficacy is reflected by her actions she takes as a leader in our building. Thank you for your unwavering belief in our students' academic potential.
Coach Erik Hagen
Coach Erik Hagen is not new to Station, but this is his first year as the leader of our PASS program. As part of our collective commitment to having a Safe and Secure Learning Environment, Coach Hagen has jumped all-in within his first year with the program. Coach Hagen has created high expectations for students who are identified as needing our PASS program behavioral support, and continues to collaborate with our administration, teachers, and PASS students in order to increase positive outcomes for students. Additionally, Coach Hagen is the Head Coach for our baseball program. Thank you Coach Hagen for your positive impact on our school culture.
Mr. Shane Ware
Mr. Ware has been instrumental in the growth of our robotics program, and brings lots of resources and opportunities to the engineering academy in the way of robotics education. Mr. Ware has a gift of building positive relationships with our students. Because of the trust he builds with students, they will work for him in the classroom, and he is able to push them to grow. Mr. Ware exemplifies our collective commitment to providing effective supports in the classroom. His work with our feeder schools reflects our Vision of Pride of The Northside, and a Station Nation takeover of Lexington.
Mr. Nathan Bailey
Although this is not Mr. Bailey's first year in our building, his role this year has increased in responsibility as a member of our Station Arts Special Program. Mr. Bailey's increase in responsibilities is in large part due to his willingness to help begin the first Mariachi Ensemble at the high school level in the state of Kentucky. Last week, our Mariachi Ensemble performed during convocation in front of Superintendent Liggins, and others from the district. To say everyone walked out of the auditorium impressed, would be an understatement. Mr. Bailey's willingness to assist Station in this trailblazing endeavor reflects our values as a school that continues to look for innovative ways to include all students.
Mrs. Keeley Ridner
Mrs. Ridner is a math teacher, and the Academic Support Lead for the IT Academy. Additionally, Mrs. Ridner is the math department chair. When observing Keeley's classroom, you immediately notice the differentiation and scaffolding structures she implements into her units. Meeting students where they are at academically, and providing supports for those students is a strength of her instructional skillset. Mrs. Ridner anticipates meeting the criteria and credentials of being selected as a Distinguished Modern Classroom Educator. Keeley is always Defending Station, and personifies our collective commitment of high level Tier 1 instructional strategies. Keep up the great work, Mrs. Ridner.
